I remember reading something about “midnight drives”

Is that something that happens? Like in July/August when it was 96 degrees that day and it’s still like 75 at night? I would be interested 🙂

@stormnd2club Midnight drives are way past MY bedtime! Someone half my age would have to lead that one! 🤣

That works for me, the sun is out quite late this time of year and will only keep getting later for a few more weeks. I think this would be cool

When I was in the Space Coast Miata Club I used to lead a lot of evening drives esp in the summer.  We'd meet right around sunset,  do about an hour of driving and end with ice cream.  Of course Florida didn't have the white tail deer problem PA does. 

Read in Motor Trend or C&D that PA & Michigan have the highest rate of deer collisions in the U.S.

That was a few years ago tho. I suppose it comes down to population density, the total mileage of roadways and the deer population..

deer is why I brought up rolling at 730. It would still be light enough to be less of an issue, and when they hear 15 Miatas pounding toward them, they are more likely to hide in the trees. 

maybe 930 is a little late of a finish though. 

yep.  anyone else interested in doing one sometime? We have increasing daylight for the next 3 weeks or so 🙂

I’m interested and would love to do Louie’s northern route since I haven’t done it yet. 

Put me down as interested!  Would be great to get a sunset pic of all of the cars too.

I agree. One of life’s little pleasures is driving a convertible on a warm muggy summer night with the top down- and seeing the sky…

Wayne mentioned about Louie having a route, will see when he replies if we know it or i can message him. Also it will be nice not being half asleep on the way to the meeting spot like I usually am 🙂

Yes, a top down drive on a clear summer's night is a great way to end the day.  I wonder which route he is referring to?  But you are still young and should have no trouble staying up late and then getting a heard start on the day.  🙂

I have a hour and a half route that is a quick paced blast of 50 miles outside of Slatington. That would work as 7:30-9:00. It could end at Rita's in Walnutport, or, there is an ice cream place 2 doors over, that also has a bathroom. If it is an evening drive, does anyone prefer Friday night, or Saturday night? Or, if there is interest, I could do both, on different weekends.
