Join Walter on another Miata excursion into the Pocono Region. Along with enjoying 103 plus miles of Miata roads, this Drive features lunch, at the Snydersville Family Diner, and, for dessert, Ice Cream at Jane’s Ice Cream and Eatery. We will also visit the Francis E. Walter Dam and take a drive around Lake Harmony, at the Split Rock Lodge in Luzerne County. Looking South from the Dam head one can view the beginning of the Lehigh Gorge State Park, which extends South into the Lehighton area.
The first leg of travel is approximately 55 miles in length, with our rest stop at WAWA, on Route 940, in one hour and fifty five minutes. Our second leg of travel is approximately 48 miles in length, and our rest stop is at the Snydersville Family Diner, in one hour and fifty minutes.
If you have never visited the Francis E. Walter Dam or taken a Miata drive around Lake Harmony, this is Drive is a must.
The Drive will end at Jane's Ice Cream and Eatery, near Stroudsburg. Following a five to six hour day, the forty minute travel back to the Lehigh Valley is via four lane roads.
We will gather at the Shell Station, 428 Nor Bath Boulevard, Northampton. The Shell Station is at the intersection of Route 329 and Howertown Road. We will meet at ~9:00 with a Driver’s meeting at 9:30 and a departure time of 9:45.
This event will follow the current Pennsylvania rules for COVID-19 safety. To avoid common handling of materials, we will email the directions to participants, for home printing, and we will eliminate the usual paper sign-in sheet. Since the sign-in confirms your agreement with LVMOC’s standard Waiver and Release, we will now consider your post to this event thread, indicating that you intend to participate, to be your “electronic” signature, indicating your agreement with said Waiver and Release (copy available on request).
We will use FRS radios for communications. Be sure to arrive by 9:00 a.m. with a full gas tank and an empty bladder .

Tough one, Neil. We will definitely miss you and Jennie on this Drive. I was hoping to talk to you about an M4 that passed me on my pre-run. Hope all is well.
Walter
Forgot to ask... Could someone please print an extra set of directions for me? Thanks !!

Bill, I will print the route directions for you.
Thank you Walter for a great run today. I can't even imagine what's involved in creating these fun filled rides, but it is GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Where may I find the video that was taken today at the damn?

Thank You, Tom and Neil. So happy you both enjoyed yourselves today. The Francis E. Walter Dam is always a magnificent stop. The perfect weather today made it even more so. HUGE thanks to Corrina and Jim for walking all the way down to the curve in the road to CLIMB the bank to capture GREAT video for us.
As always, HUGE thanks go out to #7 Jim Turner, followed by #8 Janice and Dave and our steady Tail Duo of Haley and Uncle Jeff. I cannot tell you how much I appreciated others passing information forward to me via the FRS - very helpful - Thanks.
Always a joy to see new people join in our Miata fun. Today, Neil D. invited a friend to join him for an afternoon of joy and picked him up at the WAWA.
How cool was it to arrive at the Shell Station this morning to find Gail, Randy and Wendy with new Miatas? Also, two of our couples celebrating wedding anniversaries yesterday - Ann and Gene, 39 years and Annette and Jim, 31 years. Congratulations.
And let's not forget our birthday girl - Ann Sutton. A very special day all the way around.
Sharing dashcam videos entering and leaving Francis E Walter Dam. For best result please choose the highest resolution possible.
Neil, I believe Corrina has posted her video on the Club webpage. Jim did a Live Stream onto FaceBook.
You will be getting better information from others as they join in on this topic.
Many fine photos were taken atop the Dam. I am looking forward to seeing them posted.
Neil, enjoyed your photos and video on the Club's FaceBook page.
Please add Ralph and Becky to the list
Ralph, thanks for your kind words on the Clubs FaceBook page.
We'll have to check out A Taste of Brooklyn as a future dining stop.
Please add Nobu (Fiata)
Nobu, the videos you posted on You Tube via the Club's FaceBook page are Awesome. I especially liked your capturing our leaving from the Dam. We got to see everyone up close and personal.
Corrina's, Jim's and Nobu's video coverage of our group is a "must watch". These are very special "well done" videos.
The beauty of the day has been well documented.
Thanks, Walter, for a fine day 👍! Perfect weather, and more roads that I had not yet traveled 🤩! The only road that was in poor condition was the one passing thru Split Rock Lodge... I believe the road is owned by Split Rock, so I guess the potholes are their idea of "traffic calming" devices.

Does anyone have the link for the videos as we were leaving the bridge. I can't seem to find it.

Neil, check out Nobu's ( Dotacnin10 )post above. He has links to two of his videos - arriving and leaving the Dam.
Annette posted she and Jim's video on the Club's FaceBook page. Evidently you have to be "friended" by Annette to view it.
