I have a 1999 NB. I discovered an oil leak for the "CAS" plug (Not sure the actual name)on the back right side valve cover. It is behind the right side of the valve cover / head it is the plug that looks like a freeze out plug. Has anyone on this site ever changed one?

It has a bracket the goes across it holding it on. It looks like an easy repair. It looks like I will need to loosen not remove the two bolts that hold down what looks like a "cam clamp" take off the holding bracket  and get beck there and carefully pry it out. Installing would easy. Just torque the two bolts to the cam clamp spec?

Some input would be appreciated.

Thanks

It’s been a very long time since I did one these myself on a 1.8. Get a Delran (I think that’s it) replacement O-ring, they last a while.

Be aware the O-ring that’s leaking will allow you to remove the cam angle sensor fairly easily, but the new one going in may put up some resistance.

Overall, not hard, just have patience with it. Give YouTube a search, I’m sure it’s been captured more than once. Have fun!
