Greetings everybody!  After wanting a Miata for the better part of 30 years, but resisting because they are so impractical, I finally bought one in February right off the truck.  The main reason for this car being impractical is that I am an amateur violoncellist and that instrument will not fit in a Miata, no way no how.  I am also a bit of a gear head in that I do mod my cars if they need it (most do) and I am a stickler for maintenance, detailing and on-going car care.

I kept my 2020 Veloster N (275HP / 6MT) as my practical car and have the Miata for pure enjoyment.  Though the weather is dicey on the OEM summer tires, I have managed a number of top-down runs and I am about 200 miles from the official break-in number though I have managed to violate it a couple of times.  I also have had what I think is the kinematic posture control kick in a few times.  I take back roads to and from work.

I am looking forward to a few meets / drives this year as time and weather permitting.

Welcome to Miata Life, and welcome to the Club! I had wanted a Miata for a long time myself, but children and limited finances were a reality check. Now I have two, both purchased brand new, and I daily a Miata to work. My ride home is all back roads, and I enjoy my commute! We look forward to meeting you on a Club Run!

I'm almost certain you could fit a cello w your top down.

@10ae1203 Nope, even in a soft gig bag, the instrument rests between the seat and the dashboard via bridge and back.  One bump and I would break the bridge and / or crack the belly (top) of the instrument.  Upside down might work, but the neck cannot take that sort of stress.  The issue is the distance between the seat pad and the dashboard.

I am looking forward to a drive at some point.  I am still in my working years, so weekdays are out.  With Spring, I have to tend to my property first and fun second on the weekends.  Only a few years from retirement!
