Hey guys! So the soft top is the newly acquired 93 NA is ripped and needs to be replaced. I have the replacement one already (this one better with a glass window) I looked for a hard top as I know that’s easier but I couldn’t find one for less than $1200.

And also, the water pump went, it spews coolant all over the place. I am ordering a new pump kit as well as gaskets and the belts etc.

I have never worked on this motor before. I live in Whitehall. Is anyone willing to come over sometime in the next few days or weekend to help out? I will pay $$ for your time and we can order pizza and I’ll buy your favorite beer. If someone wants to come to just help me put in the new softop that’s fine, or just the water pump that’s fine too. Just hit me up. I don’t wanna mess anything up. I live right off Cedar Crest Blvd exit off 22.

What do you guys think. Is anyone interested in either? I will pay $$ and buy food and beer

I imagine the softop replacement isn’t too difficult to do for someone who has done it already

Midas wants $900 to do the water pump which I think is outrageous.

Weather looks great rest of the week.

I was also told by a friend that you need a “weird size rivet” to do the softop. Anyone know what he means?

Jordan, if you do not get a reply to help install the soft top, it could be no one has the skill set needed. Another option is to take the two sections to Sabatini Coachworks in Nazareth and get a quote from them.

Sabatinis? I know that place. I didn’t know they did stuff like that  that’s cool I’ll have to give them a ring.

I may have found a hard top down in Baltimore - maybe - but if I do, I def have to do the water pump myself as that would be putting a lot of $ into the vehicle in 2 modifications. Lol. And I still need paint, body pieces and to kill the rust by spring.

Ugh, I would be willing to help out Jordan if it wasn't for my recent surgery.  I have never swapped out a top but I'd be willing to help out and learn.  I can always come over and eat pizza and drink beer while watching you work?  LOL

I have heard really good things about Sabatini's as well, def. worth giving them a call if you can't find some local help.

I have two shops that I'd recommend for the water pump/tb but one is in Easton (I have been using him for over 25 years and my in-laws went to high school with one of the owners and have been using them for 50+ years).  The other is down in Perkasie.

So I discovered the rain rail/weather stripping is still attached to my new (to me) soft top. So it should be easier. Basically I was told I just have bolt it onto the car.

There are water pump and belt kits for the 1.6 for $50-$200 on eBay. I may try it myself and then if successful, I can use that $$ to put towards a hard top which I was wanting to get. But can I ask where the shop is in Easton? Do they let you bring your own parts?

@stormnd2club

That is great if it ends up being that easy.

Shop in Easton is Pat's Brakes Service and Lynn's Garage on Bushkill Drive.  They will let you bring your own parts but like to verify they will work/fit first and they won't warranty the work.

I basically finished the top but now I need a new combination switch / clock spring for it apparently. The turn signals and wipers don’t work. Brights only come on if the headlights are already in the UP position - either from turning the headlights on or using the flash button. Arghhhhhh. And that water pump.

anyway as for today’s drive I had to cut it short as I had to make it home by 1PM to let my dogs out. If I don’t let them out by like 1:20ish they’ll go all over the house. So after redners I said goodbye to whoever pulled in after I waved (I didn’t have a radio this time forgot it)and hauled butt to make it back in time right when they had to go. They’re little chihuahuas and can’t hold it very long - sometimes I ask the neighbor to, but she’s outta town. Let me know where you want me to post the the “Fiata” pics. Id really like to drive a manual one. And upon inspection of my car I hate those rock chip roads ....ughh
