Drivers' Meeting: 10:00 a.m. (Note new time!)
Depart: 10:15 a.m.

Event Leader - Walter Cramer
As Horace Greeley once told a group of Miata enthusiasts,
“Go West, young drivers, Go West, and make sure
you stay off the four lanes”.
If you happen upon Dieffenbach’s Potato Chip factory,
stop and indulge
Join Walter for a Fall morning of driving westward over Lehigh and Berks County roads south of routes 22 and 78. Our westward destination is the Dieffenbach’s Potato Chip factory. The locals claim these potato chips to be the Best Ever, and the devotees among us can replenish their home stocks with the tasty 'taters! Although the drive to Dieffenbach’s is a bit over two hours, I have a rest stop planned at Redner’s on Route 183, one hour and forty minutes into the drive.
Our return route of travel also has us stopping at Redner’s on Route 183 for a rest stop on the trip back. As we turn onto Route 737 North, we finally get to travel on roadways north of routes 22 and 78. The length of travel is 95 miles and approximately 4 1/2 hours.
We will have lunch with out-door dining at Hops Fogelsville Hotel.
Be sure to let Walter know if you wish to go to the restaurant!
This event will follow the current Pennsylvania rules for COVID-19 safety. We will require that all participants maintain six-foot social distancing, and we will require masks to be worn when not in our cars. To avoid common handling of materials, we will email the directions to participants, for home printing, and we will eliminate the usual paper sign-in sheet. Since the sign-in confirms your agreement with LVMOC’s standard Waiver and Release, we will now consider your post to this event thread, indicating that you intend to participate, to be your “electronic” signature, indicating your agreement with said Waiver and Release (copy available on request).
This drive will be limited to 15 cars, including the leader, with priority given to paid LVMOC members. If the 15-car limit is not met, we will open the drive to non-members.
We will use FRS radios for communications. Be sure to arrive by ~9:45 a.m. with a full gas tank and an empty bladder .

I understand how schedules can change, even rapidly at times. We will miss you and Carol on this Drive.
So true! On the pre-run I spent about $16 (after military discount) and had two bags stuffed with chippies.
Sorry to hear that you and Carol cannot make it Saturday. Hope to see you both at a future run, maybe the Polar Bear Run on New Year's Day? 😀
As Lou mentioned, not sure if you plan to drive your MX-5 year round but if so, an investment in another set of wheels and either all-season or winter tires would be a good idea. The rubber compound of the OEM (summer tires) turn into "bricks" when the temps get near the 40F range.
Sadly, I am bowing out of lunch again. Our daughter is coming home for the weekend. Still trying to convince her to come along! Haley was all about it but she would miss the first round of trick or treating in Martin's Creek. She did say she was very interested in the Polar Bear Run!

Fellow Miatans,
Here’s a reminder that Saturday’s Chip Run is an opportunity to help out our neighbors by donating funds to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
- directly to them by clicking here.
- through LVMOC using cash or a check made out to SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK. Dave Sell, LVMOC treasurer, has volunteered to collect your monetary donations.
Thanks in advance for your generosity,
Alison
*IMPORTANT UPDATE: Due to the COVID-19 crisis, Second Harvest has stopped accepting community donations of food until further notice. More info can be found here.
Please sign up Fiata #2 Nobu for slot #15 (Hops x1).
No Hops for Mike C and Alisunshine.
@alisunshine Done and will follow up with charitable double down (employer matching).
Janice and David will not be joining the group for lunch this time.

Change of plans for Evan and I. We will participate in the beginning of the drive to Dieffenbach's. After we buy our chips, we will take off for home. I have something that needs to be accomplished in the afternoon. I fear if I make the entire drive, I will not have enough time to get it finished.
See you y'all in the morning.

Thanks for the heads-up, Ken. So glad you are able to enjoy half the drive and, of course, go home with a trunk full of Kettle Chips.
With a predicted high of 46 better count-out Jim & Melissa for lunch - too hard to eat burgers and chips with mittens 😉

Thanks, Jordan -
By the way, how is that water pump situation coming along and the installation of your soft top?
So the softop on the 93 NA was completed by me after about a day or so of trial and error, but finally got it done.
I received the new water pump kit and timing belt/gaskets etc but we moved the car to my friend Erik’s house about 15 min from me because he’s a mechanic and has tons more room; we are going to work on it together. Then next on the list is coilovers and prob sparco seats. Then cutting out the rust and welding in new rear quarter panels at some point.
As for the ND2 club looking at getting a downpipe & cat back exhaust over the winter when the car is off the road and installing on a unusually warm day. Since the car is new not worried about the usual rusty bolts. 🙂
