POLAR BEAR 2022

THE DATE OF THIS DRIVE IS NOW SUNDAY, JANUARY 2!

When -                Sunday, January 2, 2022

                                     Arrive:                    10:00 a.m.

                                     Drivers' Meeting:  10:15 a.m.

                                     Depart:                   10:30 a.m.

Where -              Weis Market Parking Lot, near the Weis Gas & Go, 1625 PA-100, Fogelsville, PA  LOCATION

Group Leaders -  David & Janice Sell (610-442-8054)

                              Louie & Corrina Draxler (484-788-3810)

Join the gang for our annual top-down celebration of the new year!  This will be a clean-roads-only event.  We will meet in the Weis Market parking lot, near their Gas & Go facility, off PA Route 100 in Fogelsville, PA.  The route will take us along fun roads in Berks, Schuylkill and Lehigh Counties.  There will be a "comfort break" at about 1 1/2 hours into the drive.

Due to the recent surge in COVID infections, there will be no dining arrangement following the drive.  There is a Cracker Barrel adjacent to the drive's ending point, and the Starlight Diner is nearby, on Route 100, just south of the I-78 intersection, if you wish to head there on your own.

This event will follow the current Pennsylvania rules for COVID-19 safety.  To avoid common handling of materials, we will email the directions to participants, for home printing, and we will eliminate the usual paper sign-in sheet.  Since the sign-in confirms your agreement with LVMOC’s standard Waiver and Release, we will consider your post to this event thread, stating that you intend to participate, to be your “electronic” signature, indicating your agreement with said Waiver and Release (copy available on request).

We are limiting the number of cars on this drive to 30, and we will be leading two groups of cars, to ensure a safe, enjoyable drive with minimal waits for regrouping, and we are giving participation priority to paid LVMOC members.  We will use FRS radios for communication.  Be sure to arrive at the departure point with a full gas tank and an empty bladder!

NOTE - DUE TO THE FORECASTED 90% CHANCE OF RAIN ON SATURDAY, 1/1/22, WE HAVE MOVED THIS EVENT TO SUNDAY, 1/2/22, AT THE SAME TIME AND PLACE.

Sorry for any inconvenience, but we doubt that anyone wants to go for a 90-mile drive in a little roadster in the rain, with the top up 🤨

I just checked the National Weather Service website for the Lehigh Valley, Brian, and it's showing a 40% of rain on Sunday.  But, as we know all too well, it's still a crap-shoot 🤔!  I'm sending an email shortly to all participants.

If it's not raining, and the roads aren't full of gunk, I can make it Sunday but can't tomorrow (Saturday)  I didn't know it was changed, good thing I checked on here

Due to our long commute, and the forecast of rain tomorrow morning (40%) please remove Celia and Warren. We will strive to meet up with all of you on the next run. 😕

As of 7:00 p.m., tomorrow's forecast for the Lehigh Valley area is "A slight chance of showers. Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 57. Light west wind becoming northwest 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 20%."  Let's hope they're telling the truth, for a change 😉!
