Join Walter on another new Drive. This Drive has us driving 85 miles of a blend of touring roads and our beloved Miata roadways in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The route has us departing the WAWA in Easton, crossing the “free bridge” at Northampton Street, driving through Warren and Hunterdon Counties and eventually ending our New Jersey roads in Frenchtown.

The second half of the Drive has us crossing the Frenchtown bridge into Pennsylvania.  We will travel South on route 32 and drive roadways in Bucks and Northampton Counties and eventually arrive at The View at Morgan Hill for lunch.

WHERE: We will be meeting at the WAWA, 310 Larry Holmes Drive, Easton. Sunday April 18

WHEN: The driver’s meeting is  at 9:45 a.m. we will depart at 10:00 a.m.  Please arrive by 9:30!

PLEASE NOTE:  THE REST ROOMS AT THE SHELL STATION, McDONALD'S AND WAWA ARE NOT AVAILABLE. THIS IS ONE TIME YOU DEFINITELY WANT TO ARRIVE WITH AN EMPTY BLADDER.

HOWEVER, 20 MINUTES INTO OUR DRIVE, THERE IS A QUICK CHECK GAS STATION IN NEW JERSEY THAT WE WILL BE STOPPING AT.

This event will follow the current Pennsylvania rules for COVID-19 safety.  We will require that all participants maintain six-foot social distancing, and we will require masks to be worn when not in our cars.  To avoid common handling of materials, we will email the directions to participants, for home printing, and we will eliminate the usual paper sign-in sheet.  Since the sign-in confirms your agreement with LVMOC’s standard Waiver and Release, we will now consider your post to this event thread, indicating that you intend to participate, to be your “electronic” signature, indicating your agreement with said Waiver and Release (copy available on request).

We will use FRS radios for communications.

Signed up:

  2. Louie and Justin
  3. Corrina and Tara.

As some of you might know, I’ve been having numbness in my left leg since November.  After many doctors, tests, I think I might have found a chiropractor/physical therapist that can help me.  She would prefer that I don’t drive my Miata till she can get this leg back to feeling normal. So, please take Gail and Bill off the list for Sunday.😥

I hope you recover soon. Not being able to drive a manual Miata would be devastating.

Has anyone come up with a way to get the directions into Google Maps?  I'd love to just plug the phone in and use Google Maps or Waze on Android Auto.

No. We use Garmin GPS units. You can either create drives yourself, or load someone else's drive onto it. Walter sent me the file, and I loaded it. That way I can't get lost if separated at a light, and I can step in as a drive leader. I have 2 units. A Garmin Drive 50 LM and a Drive 61 LM. You get lifetime maps, hence the LM. Both from Ebay.  $50 for the one, $70 for the other. Refurbished.  A great investment. So are good FRS radios. Someone will loan you a radio for the day, but at some point, you may want your own.

Well, we sure hope that doesn't become necessary, Warren 😥

I can make it. Do we need to have two leaders and break this into 2?

I have photographic evidence that she has test driven a new Miata recently.... so maybe she will see this as a triggering event!!! Gail may want the extra hp!

I think Nicole will be coming with me Sunday. If she can get up early enough.

Louie was over today and we installed the Flying Miata ND rear LED sequential turn signals and went for some rides. If you didn’t already know, Louie can DRIVE. he’s got it down to a science. Also first time I ever drove an ND1 and it felt as fast as my ND2. Quite impressed- both our go fast mods are just axle back exhausts.

so thank you Mr. Prez!

Wow cool looks like we may have one of the largest groups since the Miatas & Minis meet back last fall! I guess everyone has the spring fever and since it’s spring.. 🙂

I had a good time. A day spent making Miatas cooler (hard to believe? Right?) And driving around with friends is a day well spent! Plus was treated to a sandwich that I never had before!

@rhetlaw haha, glad you could finally make it! 😉 I've been on a couple other rides led by the same leader and I've always had a blast.
