                                  Whitehall, PA   Location

Event Leader -  Walter Cramer

This is the 41st drive this year!!

Walter noticed that the Club had nothing scheduled on its event calendar for Sunday, November 7, so he set out to remedy that!

Please join him for another 90 plus mile drive through Lehigh and Berks counties.  Some of the roads are Club favorites and others will be of the new variety.  The first leg of travel is approximately an hour and fifty minutes, and we will stop at Leaser Lake for our Rest Stop.  Our next leg of travel is approximately an hour and forty-five minutes.  As the title of the Drive suggests, we will head to the Eight Oaks Distillery , in New Tripoli, where the drive will end.  There, we will have Lunch and, of course, a tasting, if you so choose.

This event will follow the current Pennsylvania rules for COVID-19 safety.  To avoid common handling of materials, we will email the directions to participants, for home printing, and we will eliminate the usual paper sign-in sheet.  Since the sign-in confirms your agreement with LVMOC’s standard Waiver and Release, we will now consider your post to this event thread, indicating that you intend to participate, to be your “electronic” signature, indicating your agreement with said Waiver and Release (copy available on request).

We will use FRS radios for communications.  Be sure to arrive by 8:45 a.m. with a full gas tank and an empty bladder 😉.

Attending:

  1. Walter & Nancy
  2. Celia & Warren
  3. Wayne & Comet (if Comet finishes that fence... 😆)

Oops.. I didn’t meant to scare anyone off from going. If it was my post about the frost on the cars and cold temps overnight I apologize sincerely, I was just trying to help

No apologies necessary...  I'm a t-shirt 👕 and cutoffs kinda guy...  😄.

I went out to move my Mazda 3 so I could get the Miata out of the garage.  I immediately decided too early and too cold 🥶...

It's warming up, so I'll probably do something this afternoon. 👍

Folks:

Sincerely, a terrific bunch of people with a great pack of machines plus a head-turning dose of scenery on a stunner of a route...what more could I ask for in my very first LVMOC road rally participation?

Thanks for the privelege!!!

Excellent day, Walter... thanks for putting this drive together 👍!  Received quite a few favorable comments about your choice of roads, and the weather, although a little nippy at first, turned out to be perfect!  Eight Oaks Distillery was a great place for our lunch, and gave us the opportunity to sample (and buy) their products.

Thanks to Janice, my co-pilot / navigator, for helping to keep me on course, to Annette and Jim, for tailing our group, and to Michele, for serving as "middle" car when our group expanded late in the drive.

We welcomed some of our newest Club members: James & Jen, Rich and Matt.  And we hope today's guest, Jim, will become an LVMOC member in the future.

Neil and Kelly, I hope you are able to find a suitable replacement tire... sorry that pothole "ate" yours.  But, many thanks to Walter and Fred, who stayed with you until help arrived.  It's sad that few of us carry spare tires anymore, thanks to "progress" (regression?) in the automobile industry 😡.

In all, a good drive to help wind down a good season!

Walter this was a great way to wind down the season. The route was fantastic. The scenery was beautiful.  I turnout was outstanding.  We had new members join us, plus you were able to get members there today who only do a few a year.

Dave sell did a great job leading group 2 today, thank you! Thanks to all of the people who chip in to make every drive a success: the leads, middles, and tails.

Corrina and I had a great time today. I  feel like I left a little bit of me out there on the macadam. Good times!

Walter we thank you for ALL OF THE EFFORT YOU PUT INTO THIS CLUB. It is hard to believe that we broke 40 drives this year!.

Thank you for your kind words. Once again, our Club was fortunate to have a splendid day of weather so we could enjoy our countryside roads and scenery. As Dave mentioned, a bit chilly at the start, but the sunshine warmed the day quickly.

Thank you Janice and Dave for volunteering to Lead the second group. Great Job. And thanks to your tails Annette and Jim. Good job keeping your crew together.

Special thanks to Wendy and Randy for the courage of taking on the task of their "inaugural Tailing experience" for our group. Well done, Wendy and Randy.

So nice to meet our new members and guest - Jim and Jen Polles, Rich, Matt and Jim and Tom. Hoping to see you all on future Club Drives and Events.

As we were waiting for Neil and Kelly's tow truck to arrive, they felt badly they were going to miss a stop at the 8 Oaks Distillery. As tow truck drive's go, we got the best one of the lot today. Once he was given the address, he said, "no need for you folks to travel with me. I will put your Miata in your driveway".

So Fred and I were able to chauffeur Neil and Kelly to 8 Oaks.

Hey all! Great seeing everyone today! Few things-

-Today was the first time I’ve ever used the ND heated seats on the hottest setting (I can’t believe I lowered the top at 30 degrees - but why not!)

- Sheetz (at least that location) doesn’t want our business. Guess they don’t understand going there to assemble —> more likely we spend money there. Example: prior to the megaphone threats I was going to get coffee & a donut. Nope. Had half a tank of gas was going to fill it there at their pumps. Nope. I could understand if we showed up in rust bucket Hondas doing burnouts. No one did anything wrong. **This club is comprised of sophisticated, kind and intelligent individuals.** I am most certain if one Sheetz employee had taken 10 seconds to ask what we were doing there wouldn’t have been any issue. To threaten us with trespassing - as if they’re SOOO busy on a Sunday morning at 9:30AM - like we took up all the the spaces - can’t believe it. Monday morning around rush hour? Maybe. Not that they’ll feel a difference but I won’t be going there anytime soon.

- Anyways. Aside from the flat tire incident I think this was one of the most fun and at times challenging courses, which I welcome with open arms. Great choice of routes!!

- I tried to keep up with Lou’s NC 2.5 swap/mods and even w/ an additional person in his car I realized it wasn’t going to happen especially when we were going up hill. Lou once said to me: “if you aren’t gaining, you are losing” - true! From behind the car, the exhaust note reminded me of a V6 motor on the smaller side with work done. I spent 2 hours when I got home looking up NCs for sale just for kicks and to see what’s out there.

- It was great to meet the new members who showed up. The 2021 RF GT in soul red with white leather seats and door cards was just gorgeous! I want a removable hard top so bad, it’s no RF but at least it would be a change.

-One more thing. Just before I wrote this post, I did this after TWO car washes:

Thats the first cover; a much stronger and larger outdoor one goes on after on top. I still have to add some fuel stabilizer to the tank, maybe clean the wheels really well (ND BBS wheels are a pain to clean because of all the spokes) and then hopefully I’ll be seeing her in late March- early April or so next year, never know what our winters will be like.

Thanks everyone for making the trips I could attend this season a lot of fun. It was a great year for the club, so nice work everyone! Most of all thank you for just being good, honest, kind & accepting people. Thank you !! Good nite all

still merrily lining the clouds for all I’m worth,

- Jordan

Another great day full of fun and adventure!  Thank you Walt for all your efforts, and thank you to everyone who makes these events so much fun and friendly.  Celia and I look forward to these journeys.   (Makes me wonder though if I should keep a spare donut in the trunk after yesterday….)

As Corrina got the phone call from group one, asking if any of us had a spare NC tire, I got a flash of horror at the thought of carrying around that dead weight! It sent a shiver down my spine! I bought AAA with 100 miles of towing distance and don't even carry the card with me for weight reasons. I have an app on my phone.

@stormnd2club after hearing from you and others how nice the Punisher sounds, Corrina and I are going to take turns following the car later today under hard acceleration.

I am also hoping that Zak Butcher finds some time to finish the transformation video we started. He took 45 minutes of sound clips with the microphone attached to the bumper, 3rd brake light, and inside the car. The hope is to have a stand alone video of Borla exhaust 2.0L,  and one comparing it to the 2.5L.  I also am hoping for a more comprehensive video of start to finish. In fact, I am hoping to pay off this swap quickly to get a supercharger on it as soon as possible.

I was never a fan of meeting at the Sheetz and going out Ruchsville road.

From Sheetz, it requires keeping the group together at the start by crossing 145 on a short light. Making things more difficult is the stop sign after that were we need to make a two-lane left to S. Church.

We could meet at the Weis down the road, leave out the north-western entrance, and make a right on S. Church, then a left on Ruchsville and be at the same place with only a stop sign and a single-lane left turn to get us started.

Both bathrooms and gas are available at Weis, plus a much bigger lot to meet in, even an 18-space lot on the north side of the building.

^ Good point. I am also still trying to figure out if the message was pre-recorded or live. I could hear it all the way from across the street when stopped at the light. Just ridiculous how they don’t understand if people are there they are going to spend money, at least some of them. Also I agree I think Weiss may be a better location.

Good idea, Wayne 🤗.  And, the gas prices at Weis are usually better than those at Sheetz.
