ICE CREAM AT TG COUNTRYSIDE, NEAR EMMAUS

When -                 Saturday, September 19, 2020

                                  Drivers' Meeting: 9:30 a.m.

                                  Depart:  9:45 a.m.

Where -                Wawa Bethlehem

                                  741 E. Broad St  (E. Broad St. & Stefko Blvd.)

                                  Bethlehem, PA Location

THIS DRIVE FILLED AS OF 9/17 🙂

Event Leaders -  Walter Cramer and Louie Draxler (2 groups)

Join us and be entertained with another Ice Cream drive as we once again enjoy and explore more Miata roadways with many scenic views in southeastern Northampton County.  We will continue into and through Bucks County, Berks County and, finally, we conclude the drive at the Macungie Memorial Park in Lehigh County for our picnic lunch.

The first leg of travel will take us from the WAWA in Bethlehem and an hour and fifty-five minutes later we will arrive at the WAWA in the Quakertown area for our rest break. The second leg of travel has us departing the WAWA for a forty minute run to T G Countryside for our Ice Cream treat (a fellow-LVMOC-member swears T G’s has the best ice cream in the area). Our third and final leg of travel is a forty-five minute drive, to the Macungie Memorial Park in Macungie for our picnic lunch.

This event will follow the current Pennsylvania rules for COVID-19 safety.  We will require that all participants maintain six-foot social distancing, and we will require masks to be worn when not in our cars (or stuffing our faces with ice cream).  To avoid common handling of materials, we will email the directions to participants, for home printing, and we will eliminate the usual paper sign-in sheet.  Since the sign-in confirms your agreement with LVMOC’s standard Waiver and Release, we will now consider your post to this event thread, indicating that you intend to participate, to be your “electronic” signature, indicating your agreement with said Waiver and Release (copy available on request).

This drive will be limited to 15 cars, including the leader, with priority given to paid LVMOC members.  If the 15-car limit is not met, we will open the drive to non-members.

We will use FRS radios for communications.  Be sure to arrive by 9:30 a.m. with a full gas tank and an empty bladder 😏.

I see Annette has joined the group. Does anyone have her email address so I can send her Turn by Turn directions? Thanks.

Annette is not an LVMOC member, Walter.  I think Louie added her.  I don't have an email address for her.

@flying-dutchman

I did sign her up. I believe that she is becoming a paid member today.

Some pics from today. I would almost call today NB day because for me it was the most NBs I’ve seen so far, although I’ve only done I think 4/5 of these now. I really want an NB now 🙁

I got to Wawa a tad later than expected b/c in my half asleep state I hopped into my Prius Prime from habit of walking out there like a zombie without enough sleep and started to head out, only to realize about 2 minutes in that I was in the wrong car. Blue one below. Only thing they have in common is they both have steering wheels and seats and are 2020s  🤣  Doh!

The odd couple. as different from the other as possible, a RWD 6 speed MX-5 that weighs 2340lbs w/ 181HP, and a plug in electric hybrid w/ 121HP that weighs 3,365lbs and is FWD. anyways here is a pic of the Miatas at Wawa:

Here is my perspective looking back at the lovely NBs:

..and looking ahead at more NBs:

Another NB ahead:

And this gorgeous yellow (called sunburst?) very quick NB -

And back at home quick before my show tonight, gave her a quick go over with the Meguiars detail spray:

thanks everyone for today, was a lot of fun!  Some awesome roads I didn’t know about. See ya later.

oh and today was the first day I used the heated seat function with the top down, I suspect some of you did as well if you have an NC or ND w/ that feature. Ambient temperature never got above 60 F and the leaves are just starting to change color in certain places. The weather looks absolutely amazing for the next 8-9 days, sunny and highs in the mid 60s to upper 70s, and no rain in sight. So there should be a lot of color out there in about 10 days.

@stormnd2club

Glad you brought the right car! I love my heated seats. I drive top down year round. Blasting the heat, with the seats on, and you are fine during the day. Night time, Corrina gets cranky.

As Club VP, I am very happy that you enjoy driving and socializing with the people in the Club. We pride ourselves in being good people!

Thank you, Louie, it was a grand day. Once again, kudos to my pack of Miata enthusiasts. I could not lose them as much as I tried - tsk, tsk. The pack stayed tight and the FRS radios were in good use. Jordan did an amazing job as his "first time tail".

As Jordan pointed out regarding the leaves, I had Fall leaves dropping into my Miata at Stop Signs.

 Thanks! And yep 2-3 leaves randomly fell into the car during the drive. Tuesday - Thurs is supposed to have a high near 80 tho. Weird.

I also enjoyed the way several of our Miata enthusiasts enjoyed the swing set at Macungie Memorial Park this afternoon.

We have certainly seen some nice Park facilities through this Covid 19 era.

Great drive, Walter and Louie 👍!  I could have used a 5-point harness on a couple of those curves!!

I would loved to have been in the cabin of your Miata and heard the conversation between you and Janice while on those curves.

Just finished a pre-run with Jordan for his October 24th drive . . . cows, cows, and more cows.

Who Loves ya', Baby!
