ICE CREAM AT TG COUNTRYSIDE, NEAR EMMAUS
When - Saturday, September 19, 2020
Drivers' Meeting: 9:30 a.m.
Depart: 9:45 a.m.
Where - Wawa Bethlehem
741 E. Broad St (E. Broad St. & Stefko Blvd.)
Bethlehem, PA Location
THIS DRIVE FILLED AS OF 9/17 🙂
Event Leaders - Walter Cramer and Louie Draxler (2 groups)
Join us and be entertained with another Ice Cream drive as we once again enjoy and explore more Miata roadways with many scenic views in southeastern Northampton County. We will continue into and through Bucks County, Berks County and, finally, we conclude the drive at the Macungie Memorial Park in Lehigh County for our picnic lunch.
The first leg of travel will take us from the WAWA in Bethlehem and an hour and fifty-five minutes later we will arrive at the WAWA in the Quakertown area for our rest break. The second leg of travel has us departing the WAWA for a forty minute run to T G Countryside for our Ice Cream treat (a fellow-LVMOC-member swears T G’s has the best ice cream in the area). Our third and final leg of travel is a forty-five minute drive, to the Macungie Memorial Park in Macungie for our picnic lunch.
This event will follow the current Pennsylvania rules for COVID-19 safety. We will require that all participants maintain six-foot social distancing, and we will require masks to be worn when not in our cars (or stuffing our faces with ice cream). To avoid common handling of materials, we will email the directions to participants, for home printing, and we will eliminate the usual paper sign-in sheet. Since the sign-in confirms your agreement with LVMOC’s standard Waiver and Release, we will now consider your post to this event thread, indicating that you intend to participate, to be your “electronic” signature, indicating your agreement with said Waiver and Release (copy available on request).
This drive will be limited to 15 cars, including the leader, with priority given to paid LVMOC members. If the 15-car limit is not met, we will open the drive to non-members.
We will use FRS radios for communications. Be sure to arrive by 9:30 a.m. with a full gas tank and an empty bladder 😏.

Melissa and Jim, so glad you are able to join us next weekend. I was doing a pre-run of my route this morning and was thinking, "it has been awhile since we have seen both of you - All the way back to your furniture delivery. Melissa, the good news for coffee lovers is the first leg of the drive goes from a WAWA to a WAWA.
Hello, Everyone, the first time I did the pre-run of my T G Countryside drive I had us traveling back roads and eventually South of route 663. Driving a few roadways in that area and then navigating North of route 663. I quickly learned that is a HUGE mistake. Route 663 is one busy highway. There is no way I would want to take 15 Miatas on that route.
This morning's pre-run worked out far better. Actually, I was on one road of the third leg of my drive and thought to myself, "traveling this road is worth the price of admission".
The change in my route also allowed for a flip flop of the picnic lunch and ice cream stop. The first leg of travel will take us from the WAWA in Bethlehem to the WAWA in the Quakertown area. The route consists of 48 miles and one hour and forty minutes of travel.
The second leg takes us from the WAWA in the Quakertown area to the Macungie Memorial Park for our picnic lunch. The park has two grand pavilions for our lunch and indoor rest rooms with several stalls - your welcome! The route consists of 31 miles and one hour and fifteen minutes of travel.
The trip from the Park to T G Countryside for ice cream has us traveling eight miles and twenty-five minutes of travel.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at WAWA on Saturday morning.
Sorry but I am going to back out of this one. My buddy from Boston reached out asking me to go to a car show with him in CT and it happens to be the 19th. Due to Covid we weren't able to meet up at our usual events over the summer.
The good news is that this frees up a spot for someone else who may like to ride along.
I will see y'all on the 10th! 🙂
Be safe!

We will miss you, Jeff. So many folks were looking forward to seeing your new ride. We will be looking forward to it on the 10th.
Enjoy the car show with your buddy.
Just received a message from Gail Harrison. She and Bill are also unable to attend this drive.
Enjoy those grandchildren, Gail.
David, good news - I just finished another pre-run of Saturday's Drive and there are cows! - Many, many cows! "Who loves ya', Baby?"
Can anyone name the '70's TV series that line was taken from? Hint: tootsie roll lollipop.
I think that was Telly Savalas, in "KojaK", Walter.
(I wish I could remember useful things...)

David, you are absolutely correct ! Telly Zavalas as Kojak - Sunday evenings. Now I am going to have to come up with a prize for you.
Also, for those joining us on the Drive Saturday, odometer reading 29.4 is going to have you thinking you are viewing the American Pickers show. The photo below will show you what to expect.
