Event Leader -  Walter Cramer

Join Walter for a late-season Drive to re-stock your kettle potato chips. The 100-ish mile drive has us leaving Lehigh County and traveling West into Berks County, stopping at Redner’s Market on route 183 for our rest stop.  We continue on our drive and arrive in Womelsdorf, PA - the home of Dieffenbach’s Potato Chips.  We will return to Lehigh County, via our beloved Miata roads, where we will enjoy a 1:30 - 1:45 reservation for lunch at Madeline’s Fogelsville Restaurant.

Visits to Dieffenbach's have become ritual pilgrimages for LVMOC.  If you have not yet tasted their chips (and other goodies), here's your opportunity (Walter has mapped a great route, also!).

Be sure to let Walter know if you will be staying for lunch at Madeline's!

NOTE: DUE TO THE POPULARITY OF THIS EVENT, WE WILL ADD A SECOND GROUP OF CARS, TO BE LED BY TOM AND DAWN HORVATH!

This event will follow the current Pennsylvania rules for COVID-19 safety.  To avoid common handling of materials, we will email the directions to participants, for home printing, and we will eliminate the usual paper sign-in sheet.  Since the sign-in confirms your agreement with LVMOC’s standard Waiver and Release, we will consider your post to this event thread, stating that you intend to participate, to be your “electronic” signature, indicating your agreement with said Waiver and Release (copy available on request).

We will use FRS radios for communications.

@alisunshine his name is Cris (I think I spelled it correctly) and he has been having health issues that have kept him from participating but he said he plans to in 2023. He’s an “old timer” as he put it when we were chatting and knows a lot of members who have been around a long time.

Also his NB is perfect. I love it. Cage and all, and love the hard top.

Low temps of about 30-33 F this morning should be ubiquitous in the Fogelsville area. By 9:30/10AM we should be in the low 40s and temps will continue to rise to 60-62 F which is a little cool for a convertible (tho close to average for this time of year) but nothing a jacket can’t care of - just a heads up for anyone wondering. Should be brilliant sunshine.

Some pics from today below. Weather was quite nice considering it’s almost November, not a cloud in the sky

Thanks to our intrepid leaders today, Walter and Nancy, Tom and Dawn!

Additionally our “middles” Dave and Michele, David and Janice! Great job!

We can’t neglect to mention the “tails,” Jeff and Haley, Neil and Jennie, and special thanks to dedicated Matt, driving a BMW!

Lunch at Madeleine’s was great as always.

What a beautiful day to drive the wonderful back roads of the area with great people!  The cherry on top was stuffing our trunks full of delicious chippies.

Thanks to our fearless leaders and middles for keeping things moving seamlessly.  And a great big thanks to Neil and Jennie for taking on our tail responsibility.  I had to bale as Tam and I had dinner reservations.  Of course a thank you to Matt for assuming the role of "alien" tail.  A great way to throw off the other aliens on the roadways.

Matt, hope the damage tou your Miata is not too bad and you get it fixed soon.

In the above posts, Alison and Jeff have summed up our Drive today in wonderful fashion. Even though we had morning temperatures in the low 40's at Weis Markets, the sunshine and lack of any breeze made the morning feel comfortable. Again, a huge thanks to Dawn and Tom for agreeing to leading a second group. And enough is never said of our Middles and Tails that pass on valuable information to keep the line moving smoothly. Thanks, everyone.

Another day of Fun in the Sun!  There probably won't be many more such days before winter sets in 😥.   Thanks to our group leaders, tails and middies for once again "herding the cats" over those nice roads.  And, we restocked our stash of Dieffenbach's chips!  The only thing missing was ice cream!  Oh, well, next time...

Doug, we hope you don't have too many issues resulting from your tire dilemma.  Bummer...!

A huge thanks to Tom and Dawn for leading our group, and to Matt as tail.  Walter put together another wonderful route.
