As most of you know, the members of our Club are truly the life blood that keeps us vibrant and growing. Yes. I am talking about you. As your President, I have been tirelessly working to not only get rides on the schedule, but also trying to get as many different members as possible to create and lead them.
Brian, who attends many of our rides, has stepped up to create his first ride. Since he is looking for constructive feedback, he has asked if anyone wants to join him on a pre-run of his run.
This is not yet an actual Club event, but it will be. If you want to try some new roads north of here, and see what it is like to put together a ride, this is a great opportunity.
Meeting: Sunday, August 8th at 11:00 a.m. We are meeting at the Sugarloaf Township Sheetz, 551 PA 93, Sugarloaf, PA.

Thanks again Brian for creating a new drive for the Club! May your roads be smooth, and your curves be endless!

This route includes most of my favorite roads in the area around Bloomsburg south (mostly) of I-80 because it's really hard to strong a route together with the ones to the north of I-80 without taking a slog through downtown Bloomsburg or Berwick. It includes a lunch stop at the Cherokee Tap Room and Grille between Danville and Elysburg, which I haven't personally tried yet but the reviews are positive and they have parking and space for a fair sized run group. The roads are varied from tight and technical to flowing and scenic, and include a hillclimb section and a covered bridge. The run terminates at Valley Scoops and More in Sugarloaf Township (just down the street from the starting point) where Ice Cream and mini-golf are optional.

I'll do it.

I can't make the pre-run this weekend but looking forward to running the "real" run!
2016 ST Ceramic Metallic GT aka Ghost
Thanks to Walter and Glen for spending the day doing the pre-run with me. There were no complaints about the route, and the Cherokee taproom and grill are eager to work with us to accommodate a group of drivers and copilots. We'll get more details published as we hone in on a date.

WOW! What a fun day on the roads of Columbia and a bit of Schuykill Counties. Brian did a very nice job in stringing together our beloved curvy Miata roads and throwing in a blend of curvy country touring roads.
The scenery in that area is delightful. As Brian began the drive, he said, "there are a lot of fun roads in this Valley". And what a valley it is! Mountains on both sides of us for the entire drive. Magnificent views one after the other.
Added to that, Brain has to be a bit of a historian as he continued to provide Glen and I will tidbits of interesting information on the entire Drive.
Glen had a one hour ten minute drive to the starting point from Lebanon and I had a one hour and fifteen minute drive from Lower Nazareth. And we were both very happy we decided to do the pre-run with Brian.
This is another one of those Drives offered by LVMOC you don't want to miss.
@rhetlaw Thanks for the endorsement Walter, I'm glad you had fun!

@livetodrive you missed a good time, after the first segment Walter told me you'd have loved my pace but for the bulk of the club I might have to slow it down a little 😂

@wowak generally, the smaller the group, the faster the pace, the easier it is to get through lights, etc. It sounds like your pace was perfect.

Walter told me . . . for the bulk of the club I might have to slow it down a little 😂
Brian, the suggestion was just a bit stronger than an I might . . . 🤠
But as we discussed, Louie and a few others really missed out on a super spirited drive on awesome curvy Miata roads.
This was a great run and I had a lot of fun! Lots of curvy roads. Fantastic mountain valley scenery. Should look absolutely beautiful in the fall. Many thanks to Brian for putting this drive together. I look forward to the real run in a few months.
The folks at the Cherokee Taproom were very good to work with and would love to host our lunch stop. It was a very nice place. I will be making a few runs to this restaurant outside of the club runs when I visit this area.
Well said, Glen - we did have a fun day, all in all.
I have identified one flaw in my plan: Valley Scoops & More is a seasonal operation (like many Ice Cream stands) and they stop serving ice cream mid-September (exact date TBD depending on how much of their staff goes away to school and how fast) so if this run doesn't happen until the end of September or some time in October, we miss out on Ice Cream.
That said Walter has graciously prepared a functional GPX file and turn-by-turn directions so all we need now is to set a date.
