I've developed an exhaust leak and before I throw money at Planet Miata I thought I'd see if anybody had an old exhaust sitting in their shed.  I'm just trying to kick the can down the road so I can save up for a new aftermarket exhaust for next spring.

I hope that you find one. I have an NC and ND in my basement.  There HAS to be someone with an NA in their basement.

Are you willing to drive a bit to get one?  Only ask as I know a guy in a CT club who does a lot of work on NAs and may have one or can source one.  If you'd like, I can ask him.

But hopefully someone in the club may have one sitting around.

@ctt3mx5 Its annoying but not so bad that I can't live with it for a few weeks until the Miata gets parked for the winter.  Definitely not worth driving out of state for.

@wowak  That is right, you park the car for the winter.  Have you decided on an aftermarket muffler already or going to use the winter season to research?

I'm leaning towards Cobalt,  just haven't decided on single or dual tip.  I'm looking to avoid drone at all costs.

I have heard Cobalt on an ND. It sounds very similar to my Borla. I have Borla on both of mine, no drone. They engineer their mufflers in a sound chamber on each specific car, in order to eliminate drone. Check it out. Plus American made and a million mile warranty.

@livetodrive I've heard Borla was involved in the design of the Cobalt exhaust.

Just like any muffler, I have heard good and bad things about the Cobalt on the ND platform.  Some love it, some felt it too boomy and swapped it out.  Wonder if anyone in the club has one on an NA that you could get first hand experience with?  As for tips, I vote for one but again...subjective.  🙂

I went against popular theory and bought the MazdaSpeed muffler for my NC with AT.  Most everything I read about it, said it droned/was too boomy on MT cars and even worse on the AT.  Personally I loved the sound it made and my wife never complained, even while driving top up, which was the real test for me.
