NOTE - Since our lunch stop is outdoors, with no cover, this will be a fair-skies only event!
As most of you know, every year on January 1, some of our more adventurous members head out for our annual top-down Polar Bear Drive in all but the worst winter conditions. The Un-Polar Bear Drive is the summer version of the New Year's Day event, during which our hardy troopers gather with their winter gear stored in their trunks (inluding ski hats, mitts, jackets, wool scarves, shovels, etc.) and then pose in that gear while baking under the hot sun for a photo shoot. This is followed by the quick shedding of gear and a drive that includes curves and cones... Ice Cream Cones, that is (after all, we must involve something icy!).
The drive will begin at the south end of the Weis Market parking lot, near Winchester Road. We will re-visit some of the roads from previous Un-Polar Bear drives, and there will be some new additions to the route. Our lunch / ice cream stop will be at Heisler's Cloverleaf Dairy, near Tamaqua, for treats that should be appropriate for what will hopefully be a warm, sunny day. You may bring a picnic lunch, if you wish (Heisler's has burgers, hot dogs, barbeque, pierogies, etc.). There are rest rooms and benches, but no tables... you might want to bring camping / folding chairs to help with social distancing. Also, Heisler's is currently not accepting credit cards... it's CASH ONLY.
This event will follow the current Pennsylvania rules for COVID-19 safety. We will require that all participants maintain six-foot social distancing, and we will require masks to be worn when not in our cars (or stuffing our faces with ice cream). To avoid common handling of materials, we will email the directions to participants, for home printing, and we will eliminate the usual paper sign-in sheet. Since the sign-in confirms your agreement with LVMOC’s standard Waiver and Release, we will now consider your post to this event thread, indicating that you intend to participate, to be your “electronic” signature, indicating your agreement with said Waiver and Release (copy available on request).
This drive will be limited to 20 cars, including the leader, with priority given to paid LVMOC members. If the 20-car limit is not met, we will open the drive to non-members.
We will use FRS radios for communications. Be sure to arrive at the departure point with a full gas tank and an empty bladder 😏.

Please add Annette to our list as a guest. She is a member of New Jersey Miatas on Facebook. I invited everyone close to the border to consider joining our Club. She is looking forward to joining us.
Dave, please print off a release form for this ride for her, and hopefully any other guests I can encourage to join our ride Saturday. Hopefully she will join the Club and be able to sign up on our site as a paid member.
I will bring hand sanitizer for her pen etc. And I will collect her form. Please have a few spots on the form, just in case!

I'll add Annette to the list, and I'll bring a hard-copy sign-in sheet and release form with me to the drive. Also some membership application forms and extra route sheets for the drive (I may have to make one further revision, following a pre-run today).

Oops, just realized there isn’t one this week or on 9/26 as far as I can tell from the events page? I need to check the route planning thing and try to plan one out for late October or something, many awesome roads where I used to live (Bushkill township/Nazareth).
