It is again time for the summer version of LVMOC's annual New Year's Day Polar Bear Drive. For the UN-Polar Bear Drive, our hardy entourage will gather, in mid-summer, with their winter gear stored in their trunks (including ski hats, mitts, jackets, wool scarves, shovels, etc.) and then pose in that gear while baking under the hot sun for a photo shoot . This is followed by the quick shedding of gear and a drive that includes curves and cones... Ice Cream Cones, that is (after all, we must involve something icy!).
This will be a PICNIC LUNCH drive! Our lunch / ice cream stop will be at Heisler's Cloverleaf Dairy, near Tamaqua, for treats that should be appropriate for what will hopefully be a warm, sunny day. We suggest that you bring a picnic lunch, or, if you wish, Heisler's has burgers, hot dogs, barbeque, pierogies, etc. There is a covered pavilion with tables and benches, or you might want to bring camping / folding chairs.
After visiting Heisler's, we will follow more fun roads to the drive's end, back in Fogelsville near the intersection of Main St (Old U.S. 22) and PA-100. The total length of the drive will be around 100 miles.
Your registration in this Forum thread confirms your agreement with LVMOC’s standard Waiver and Release, and we will consider your post to this event thread, stating that you intend to participate, to be your “electronic” signature, indicating your agreement with said Waiver and Release (copy available on request).
We will use FRS radios for communications. Don't forget your winter gear!!

That make perfect sense, given your home location, Mike. Thanks for letting us know!

Dave, thanks for putting together another successful Un-Polar Bear Drive. The folks in my group continually complemented you on your choice of roads. As always, our picnic lunch and Heisler's Ice Cream was a huge hit.
I have to give a big shout out to my Tail, Michele and Dave for keeping us together. Another great job on the radio Michele. And compliments to all the Drivers in Group 2. Our Group stayed together as a tight pack the entire Drive.
Another fun time on Miata roads with LVMOC Club Members.
Great job today from leaders, tails and participants. Thank you!
I'm so glad I ignored today's weather forecast (70% - 80% chance of afternoon thunderstorms 🧐). It was a hot day, but a dry day!
A huge "thanks" to Walter for volunteering to lead a second group of cars. Smaller groups are much better for everyone... easier to keep together, fewer pullovers for regrouping, etc. And thanks to Ken and Evan for being my group's tailgunners. It's comforting to be able to see that yellow car back there, in my mirrors, knowing we're all together. Also, thanks to Janice, my capable navigator, for keeping us all on-course.
Finally, thanks to all the LVMOC members who participated in this drive. It's always nice to see your smiling faces at our events! 😑
