SPRING DRIVE WITH LUNCH AT AIRPORT DINER IN KUTZTOWN

When -          Saturday, April 2, 2022

                                 Arrive:                     9:30 a.m.

                                 Drivers' Meeting:   9:45 a.m.

                                 Depart:                   10:00 a.m.

Where -        Weis Market, 7801 Glenlivet Drive W, Fogelsville, PA  LOCATION

(Gather in the Weis lot near the Weis Gas & Go)

Leader -  Walter Cramer

Join Walter for a 90 mile plus drive on extremely friendly Miata roads, in both Lehigh and Berks counties.  Most of us are familiar with this region, and Walter has mapped an interesting, fresh mix of the roads, with some new ones tossed in to add to the fun!  The first leg of travel is 45 miles in length and our rest stop will be at the new Sheetz at the juncture of routes 863 and 78.  The second leg of travel is 44 miles in length and we will arrive in Kutztown, where we will enjoy lunch at the Airport Diner (sorry, the airport is now defunct, so we won't get to see their red biplane cruising overhead 😥).  As always, ice cream is an option after lunch at the Shoppes at Premise Maid.

As you post a reply in this thread, please let Walter know if you will be staying for lunch.

We will meet at the Weis Market, 7801 Glenlivet Drive W, Fogelsville (just off route 100, north of Old Rte 22 & I-78).  Bathrooms and fuel are available at this site.

We will use FRS radios for communication.

This event will follow the current Pennsylvania rules for COVID-19 safety.  To avoid common handling of materials, we will email the directions to participants, for home printing, and we will eliminate the usual paper sign-in sheet.  Since the sign-in confirms your agreement with LVMOC’s standard Waiver and Release, we will consider your post to this event thread, stating that you intend to participate, to be your “electronic” signature, indicating your agreement with said Waiver and Release (copy available on request).

It’s chilly out but dry as of 8:30AM.

It’s going to be one of those mornings that lasts much of the afternoon - should be in mid 50s late in the day

That’s also on my list. Yours is insanely nice with CF up top. Also Bayson just came out with reasonably priced side skirts for the ND - look somewhat like OEM but only $179 or so instead of the $400 ish the dealer wants.

oh and you guys can put me in most likely for lunch, fairly sure

One of my best friends from high school just picked up this 2015 Club. I really tried to get him to come this morning; but he has to work. 🙁 So since he can’t come and meet everyone, here’s next best thing, a couple photos of his new to him NC3 PRHT Miata

. 35k miles, 6MT - all stock.. took pics of mine next to it:

@stormnd2club sweet ride!  A red/black is one of the first ones I saw when I began my search, but my previous few cars were red and I just didn't want another red one.

Was hoping for silver, but this black one happened to be the one...and darnnit if it doesn't have some red

^ Yep I am done with red after this one. He loves the car. It’s in really nice shape. Almost zero rock chips! 🙂

I originally wanted machine grey metallic but didn’t want to wait 6 months and the red was suddenly avail

Thanks, Walter... another day of fun in the sun 👍!  A great choice of roads, and it was a hoot to run some of those more familiar to us in reverse direction.  A good choice of dining, also 😛!

We enjoyed welcoming some new faces to the gang today: New member, Dan Sarm and Tami, and guests Keith Reinhard and Art Braunwell.  I hope they enjoyed the day as much as Janice and I did, and we hope to see them soon at a future event!

Thanks, David, I am so impressed with the way you not only enjoy the roads of travel, you are familiar with them all.

Many thanks to Michele and Dave, Ken, Jeff and Haley. Leading twenty four Miatas was made much easier with the constant input from these folks as well as others in our group. Thank you for using this FRS radios.

What a joy it was to be reunited with our Miata friends once again. I love the conversations, laughter and camaraderie our group enjoys. It was certainly a pleasure to meet our "first timers" and I am sure they sensed the good time we have together.

Also, thank you to the choral group that sang the Birthday song for my daughter, Sherry, who resides in Calgary, Canada. Upon visiting, she has enjoyed two Drives with our group and she thinks the world of you guys and gals. I posted the video Corrina took on our family message board and she LOVED it. She asked to be remembered to everyone.

Walter

Thanks to Walter for another great drive!  What a wonderful way to start the "spring" driving season. Looking forward to many more.

So glad to hear that Sherry enjoyed her video.

Great day today. Thanks everyone.

Mazda may have my car for almost a month for the repaint so I’ll try to get more in before it goes in - perhaps they will give me a loaner ND1 or something but more likely a CX-5 etc

Also Lou is basically Clark Kent who becomes Superman behind the wheel. Most incredible thing I’ve seen from directly behind. Wow.

But yeah, proud to be a part of this ever growing community. Also thanks to those who expressed concerned regarding my drastic weight loss. Peaks and valleys is the way it goes for me - but I know I feel better on drives like today. It’s a natural buzz and distracts me from me.

While I didn't get to do the entire drive, what I did participate in was great...especially with the new wheel!

Can't wait for more, the sun must shine one of these days...
