This event has it all.  Your Miata gets to be in a car show with other Miatas only. You get a great breakfast for $7.  There is a free airshow.  Kids ages 8-17 get to go up in plane for free!  Then, when you think that you are all funned out... Walter will lead us for ice cream on a great bunch of Miata roads.  Oh and it is on a Sunday. And it is our 14th Run of the year!

Quick update on Walter's Run from the Airshow to the Creamery!!! He has a 2 hour, 47 mile drive on great Miata Roads!!! You don't want to miss this event! Breakfast! Airshow! Car Show! Great Run!! Sign up!!!

We are excited to have an all new event for everyone. We have been invited to an airshow and pancake breakfast by the EAA 839. They are a Club that operates out of a small airfield in Stroudsburg. Their mission statement is:

Chapter 839 is passionate in enjoying aviation with others who have a similar interest and the desire to share aviation with the local community through fly-ins, picnics, workshops, Young Eagle rallies and more. We are an Active Chapter with a hangar and lots of exciting projects in the works.

To those ends, they have a pancake breakfast on Sunday, June 13 to raise funds for their operations.  We have been invited, as a Club to display our cars in a special section, to show off our sportscars, and our Club.  In addition, they offer to take children aged 8-17, who are with their parents (to sign paperwork), for a free ride in an airplane.

BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! After we are done enjoying the airshow, we will launch from there in a Run back to the Valley, with a destination of Kline's Farms.  All of their ice cream is made by them, with no artificial colors or ingredients.

What a great way to support local!!!

Please come and attend.  This will only cost $7.00 (alright, $10 if you round up for a good cause), to see an airshow, be the star of a car show, have your son or daughter up in a plane, and have a fun ride back for natural ice cream!

Date: Sunday June 13

Time: 9:00 breakfast begins and your car should be arriving

Location: 222 Hickory Lane SAYLORSBURG (MAKE SURE YOUR GPS DOES NOT CHANGE IT TO STROUDSBURG).

For a link to their homepage and directions, click here

To sign up, leave your name in the reply section.

We will require that all participants maintain six-foot social distancing outside of your family groups, and we will require masks to be worn when not seated at a table for dining.  Since the sign-in ordinarily confirms your agreement with LVMOC’s standard Waiver and Release, we will now consider your post to this event thread, stating that you intend to participate, to be your “electronic” signature, indicating your agreement with said Waiver and Release (copy available on request).

So happy to discover this club! My name is David, my wife Nell and I will try to attend Sunday morning, along with my black 2008 NC “Selkie”.

Running up from the Lebanon area, about 1.75 hours away. Talking Nell into getting up early enough is the only REAL challenge!

Hope you lot are as friendly as you seem on this forum, I may be convinced to become a club member!

They are. I joined last year - didn’t know the club existed, didn’t know anyone at all. I showed up at a drive completely out of the blue in my NC2 one Sunday morning - and was given a very warm welcome and have been around since. One time Walter got a flat and everyone worked together simultaneously to help. The individuals in this club are    kind, mature, and fun. I’ve been in car clubs in the past where if you were new, or didn’t know this or that person, you were barely acknowledged, or jokes made that I was young so couldn’t afford $2,000 coilovers or a turbo charger etc. Most of those clubs have since fallen apart & disbanded - I wonder why.

None of that exists in this club- not even close. I was treated basically the same way as a stranger who showed up to the first drive a year ago as I am now - kindness & respect. In some of the other clubs Eventually I would ask myself - would I invite any of them to just hang out if it wasn’t about driving in a group? Except for a few the answers was mostly “no” - just because of how it was. This group is the opposite and an example of how a car club should be run.

Hey guys, my name is Nick and I just found this group a few days ago!

I was hoping I could join you guys and make some new friends. I love my 2006 Miata and have only had it for about 6 months, but I was searching for it for much longer than that - had to find the right one!

Anything I should know or bring? Do you guys have a plan if it rains?

I love the Miata, ice cream, and planes!

Thanks guys!

Nick

Nick, thanks for your post and so happy you found our Club. We do have a lot of fun on our drives and we are always finding new roads.

We would be more than happy to have you join us on Sunday. And, no, there is nothing special to bring.

I know what you mean about "had to find the right one!" Looking forward to hearing your story. There are so many in our group that would like to share their story.

If you provide your email address either here on the forum or send me a PM, I will email you the route directions for Sunday's two hour drive following our pancake breakfast and the airplane show.

Walter

@nicktheawesome Welcome and congrats on your new addiction!  Also looking forward to hearing your story of finding the "right one".  It took me almost a year to find my NB and sadly it was totaled after I had it nine months.

Like Walter said their is nothing special to bring but a few suggestions I have are an appetite (for pancakes and ice cream), sunscreen, a chair (not sure of seating accommodations at the airfield) and a full tank of gas!  🙂

If it rains, you drive faster.  lololololololol

Ok so one thing you should know - this is not exactly what you asked, but be really careful of your coolant tank especially it being a 2006, they turn yellow and crack, spew coolant while you are driving and can cook the engine, if you weren’t aware. There are aftermarket metal tanks that bolt right in, made for this purpose of the weak OEM plastic.

If your coolant tank is yellow or getting yellow it’s a warning sign, bc they were an off white color new from the factory..  just a heads up. I know that wasn’t what you were asking about but seeing you recently got it and it’s the NC1 thought I’d mention it.

also.. WELCOME! 🙂

@nicktheawesome Hi Nick! I think you found the right Club. The fact that you had to find the right one, is proof. I have 2 Miatas at present, and had to have specific ones. Then, I spent thousands making them even more "me". My cars are a reflection of me!  We all LOVE our cars, and Miatas do well in groups! You are going to have a great day!!

Good News!  I happened to be up in the Coaldale region today and thought, "I am so close to route 209 why not drive my Sunday route one more time".

All is still well with the roads. And the good news is, construction of the bridge on the Upper Little Creek Road has been postponed until June 14th.

We are set.

Great suggestion Jordan!  Nick, the failure spot on the OEM tank is at the neck where the cap twists on.  Remove the cap and carefully check the neck for signs of stress.  It might help if you shine a light from the outside.  The coolant system on the NC is pressurized so as Jordan said if this fails while driving, there is a good chance you may be calling Mike at Xero Limit for a 2.5L swap.

Might have another new member joining us.  While turning into the Palmer Giant to return a movie, I saw an ND pull into to get gas.  I followed and walked over with a big smile, a card and told him a little bit about us.  Hopefully I didn't come across as too creepy.  Lol

He drives a 2020 SRC Club with BBS.

@livetodrive A friend asked me to dog-sit last minute so I won't be able to join in the drive after the airshow, but I can make it for the morning and then leave in the early afternoon if that's ok with how the event is set up.
