FREDDY HILL FARMS 2020

When -                   Saturday, June 27, 2020

                                  Drivers' Meeting: 10:00 a.m.

                                  Depart:  10:15 a.m.

Where -                   Wawa Bethlehem

741 E. Broad St  (E. Broad St. & Stefko Blvd.)

                                  Bethlehem, PA  Location

THERE'S ONE OPENING AS OF 6/26! 🤩

Event Leader -  Walter Cramer

Good news... LVMOC will soon be back on the road!  After several months of hunkering down due to COVID-19, we could all use a Miata drive, and we certainly could use some ice cream!

Walter Cramer has graciously agreed to reprise one of his 2019 “PA Ice Cream Trail” drives with a cruise to Freddy Hill Farms, near Lansdale, PA, on Saturday, June 27, 2020.  This drive will begin in Bethlehem, at the WAWA on the corner of East Broad Street and Stefko Boulevard.  The route will take us through Hellertown and onto the winding roads East and South of the Lehigh Valley, as we head toward Lansdale.  The first comfort break is at a WAWA close to our Ice Cream stop.  Our route back to the Lehigh Valley follow Old Allentown Road into Coopersburg, where the “official” drive will end, and we will thence disperse back to our home bases.

NOTE - Since Freddy Hill Farms has picnic tables, please bring a snack or picnic lunch with you, which we can enjoy before indulging in ice cream.  Also, if you can fit them in, consider bringing camp chairs or folding chairs along, which will aid with the social distancing.

This event will follow the current Pennsylvania rules for COVID-19 safety.  We will require that all participants maintain six-foot social distancing, and we will require masks to be worn when not in our cars (or stuffing our faces with ice cream).  To avoid common handling of materials, we will email the directions to participants, for home printing, and we will eliminate the usual paper sign-in sheet.  Since the sign-in confirms your agreement with LVMOC’s standard Waiver and Release, we will now consider your post to this event thread, indicating that you intend to participate, to be your “electronic” signature, indicating your agreement with said Waiver and Release (copy available on request).

This drive will be limited to 15 cars, including the leader, with priority given to paid LVMOC members.  If the 15-car limit is not met, we will open the drive to non-members.

We will probably use FRS radios for communications.

Attending:

  1. Walter & Nancy
  2. David & Janice
  3. Louie & Corrina car #1
  4. Louie & Corrina car #2, “social distancing” ?
  5. Jerry & Wanda
  6. Mike C & Alison
  7. Eric & Michelle
  8. Jeff & Haley
  9. Michele
  10. Brian
  11. Jim & Melissa
  12. Glen & Sharon
  13. Gail & Bill
  14. AAA
  15. Right-Hand Drive Mystery Miata

@livetodrive

i wanted to thank everyone for stopping today when I spun out... fortunately, I believe the damage is cosmetic and I have an appointment with my friends shop already scheduled for an oil change on Monday so I will have him look everything over. I’m also going to be putting the dr. Chip kit to the test and will have to order a new GV front lip from eBay.

I almost cancelled due to the rain but I was excited to do a great drive with an awesome group. I’ve now learned quickly that no matter how gently you can feather the throttle, turbo Miata’s and rain do not mix well and I probably will leave the car in the garage if there is rain in the forecast in the future.

I’m looking forward to future events!

Walter,

Thanks for another fun drive.  I made it home shortly after it started to rain, now there is thunder and lighting so I'm glad I left when I did.

Thanks to everyone who came out for the Drive today. Y'all are such a fun group to ride with. You are so easy going and go with the flow. We certainly did have quite the weather pattern today. That bit of a spritz we had starting out didn't seem to bother anyone. Like Michelle, Nancy and I had to pull over on Stefko Boulevard to put out top up. And just in time, I might add, as we got caught in a down pour. How exciting is Miata driving ! ? !

Thanks, Walter, for another fun drive!  Great roads, and the morning sprinkles were no problem, since we kept moving and the drops just floated by, above our heads 😊.

It was nice to see the gang again, after several months of seclusion, in our caves!

I'm glad that the results were, apparently, minimal, Brian.

I didn't realize that your Miata had a turbo... as for the abrupt turbo power delivery, I've heard many times, "Yeah, they do that...".  Fortunately, our pace was not fast.

Thanks for joining the gang yesterday, and we look forward to seeing you at more LVMOC drives and events!

This run was just what I needed.  The drive was well paced and fun, and the overcast and light rain kept the heat down.  A truly pleasant run.  Thank you, Walter!

Thank you Walter for another great drive to get ice cream!

Haley had a great time too and said she'd like to come again.  We didn't hit any hard rain until we were about 10 minutes from her house.  We looked at each other, smiled and kept driving top down.  We even stopped for a selfie in the rain.  😀
