Event Leader -  Walter Cramer

With Saturday’s pending warm and sunny day, Walter is dusting off his TG Countryside ice cream drive and offering to lead a run for the Club. BUT... since TG has closed for the season, we will instead visit The Shoppes of Premise Maid, in Manatawny (on PA-222).  Our gathering point is the WAWA, 741 East Broad Street, Bethlehem (corner of Broad Street and Stefko Boulevard).  As on the previous drive to TG Countryside, we will explore fun roadways with many scenic views in southeastern Northampton County.  We will continue through Bucks County and Berks County, and we will end at the Macungie Memorial Park in Lehigh County for our picnic lunchAlthough there are picnic tables in the pavilion, bring along camping chairs if you prefer to sit and enjoy your lunch in the sun.  After lunch, we will head for Premise Maid, to indulge in their ice cream and candy specialties. Following our stop for treats, the ride has ended, and we will all disperse to our home areas.

This event will follow the current Pennsylvania rules for COVID-19 safety.  We will require that all participants maintain six-foot social distancing, and we will require masks to be worn when not in our cars.  To avoid common handling of materials, we will email the directions to participants, for home printing, and we will eliminate the usual paper sign-in sheet.  Since the sign-in confirms your agreement with LVMOC’s standard Waiver and Release, we will now consider your post to this event thread, indicating that you intend to participate, to be your “electronic” signature, indicating your agreement with said Waiver and Release (copy available on request).

This drive will be limited to 15 cars, including the leader, with priority given to paid LVMOC members.  If the 15-car limit is not met, we will open the drive to non-members.

We will use FRS radios for communications.  Be sure to arrive by 9:30 a.m. with a full gas tank and an empty bladder .

Did someone say, “ice cream?” No need to ask twice! Sign me up!

Drives 3 days in a row (albeit one is unofficial)! Is that a new record?

Alison

I like the way you think, Alison. It has to be a record, for sure !

Now we have a record to shoot for and exceed next driving Season.

@shins

Yeah, when I read Louie's post, I thought the same as you, Glen. But as it turns out, it was only a figurative statement.

Glad you are able to join us.

@shins haha. No, we are touring a vineyard tomorrow, so we dropped out. That is how you got my slot! You didn't bump us.

Thanks, Walter for squeezing in this drive!  The weather was perfect, and this route is always a fun ride.  This was our first visit to Premise Maid, having driven by it many times, each time saying, "We'll have to stop in there some time...".  We finally made it!  We must go back to sample more of their goodies 😋.

Always a joy leading a drive for this fine group of Miata enthusiasts. Again, thanks to you and Janice for tailing for the group - another fine job. And thanks to all who were on the FRS giving updates - always helpful and welcomed.

Our picnic lunch at Macungie Park was a delight with the car show going on. It was nice to see those oldies but goodies.
