Event Leader - Walter Cramer
Join Walter for another new Drive. This Drive will be about 130 miles in length, with approximately 100 of those miles on our beloved Miata roads. The additional 30 miles is four lane travel back to our ice cream destination in the Lehigh Valley. We will have a rest stop at the Delaware Water Gap Welcome Center and picnic lunch at the Big Pocono State Park which at the top of the mountain above Camelback Ski Area and Water Park. For those interested, we will be ending the drive with Ice Cream at the Klein Farms Dairy & Creamery, north of Easton. With driving, rest stop, lunch and ice cream, this could end up being a 5 1/2 - 6 hour day. Of course, you can drive to your hearts content and pull off when you’ve had enough.
The views from Big Pocono State Park are exhilarating. Looking South we see the Delaware Water Gap to our left, Wind Gap area in the center, and the Lehigh Gap to our right. Looking North you will enjoy more great views of the Pocono Region.
We will be gathering at the Shell Station, 428 Nor Bath Boulevard, Northampton. The Shell Station is at the intersection of route 329 and Howertown Road. We will gather at 9:00 - ish with a Driver’s meeting at 9:15 and a departure time of 9:30.
This event will follow the current Pennsylvania rules for COVID-19 safety. To avoid common handling of materials, we will email the directions to participants, for home printing, and we will eliminate the usual paper sign-in sheet. Since the sign-in confirms your agreement with LVMOC’s standard Waiver and Release, we will now consider your post to this event thread, indicating that you intend to participate, to be your “electronic” signature, indicating your agreement with said Waiver and Release (copy available on request).

What a great ride today. We had lots of new members and guests, including Justin seeing us and getting inspired to do what Miatas do...take the long way!
Walter strung 130 miles of Miata roads together, no small task. He led us in a large group that I would never have attempted. I am not that skilled.
Once again, the multiple GPS units proved helpful when the group broke up, which is inevitable with 2 dozen cars. Thanks Walter for evangelizing the Gospel according to Garmin.
The whole day proved why Miatas are so special. Good people buy Miatas. Miatas multiply the fun when unleashed on twisty roads with other Miatas. And the members of our Club are fun to be around! Our Club is nothing without all of you, so thanks for being the life blood of our Club!
Miata Life!!!!!
You know that brings up an interesting point. For me, at least. After a blast of a day like yesterday - does anyone else feel a little less into driving theirs for a couple days after? If you have a second vehicle that is..
I do sometimes. Like yesterday was so much fun especially with dozens of us, I think that’s kind of natural, all that adrenaline and then perhaps in a couple days I’ll be driving alone no Miatas in sight, fighting traffic on 22, wishing it was a weekend again.
If I am crazy and no one knows what I’m talking about - I understand - maybe when driving the ND alone I just miss the camaraderie of it all. The good thing though, as long as the weather cooperates, another is around the corner. 🙂

@stormnd2club Jordan you are in luck! I forsee more drives in your future!!! My Rita Run last weekend would have been better if it was dry. I am going to tweak it a little and offer that again soon. That run is a faster paced, shorter drive, that you would enjoy! Plus I am not as skilled as Walter is at stringing together that many roads, so... I am the proof for other members who may be interested in creating a drive, that they come in different shapes and sizes!

Let’s not forget a welcome to our resident alien Justin? Is it Justin?
he was driving his Miata and saw the group and joined the drive when he saw us leaving the copper penny.
he later discovered our big secret that we are not a car club, we are an ice cream club with one requirement to join: own a Miata.
You've exposed hidden agenda, Wayne 😉

oh and it was awesome to see a 2021 model, one of the first I think? With the white leather. What a beauty !
Mine is a 2021......just saying. Maybe you didn't see it on the couple rides I was on?? LOL
I hope to have it looking right for the next ride.
Thanks to everyone who put it together.
Thanks Tony for letting me tag along (even though the extra 200lbs. to your car probably slowed us down a bit).
@jp1
Jon, it was good to have you along yesterday. I meant to ask you how you enjoyed the "navigator seat".
Certainly a different feel.

Wow really? Which color? RF? soft? Either I missed it or I wasn’t there for the rides you were on. My bad.

Seriously some of the roads Walter finds - I don’t know how he does it either, lol. I sometimes actively drive the ND to find roads like that and usually don’t find much at all.
BTW - The drive on Saturday on the way to 33 to the ice cream place, while we were still on backroads in the Poconos - there was a crazy section that had this quick rise and then leveled off, I think I almost got air. Got that butterfly feeling in my stomach.
The nice NB guy who was directly behind me driving a 1999 NB - emerald green I think (sorry I don’t remember his first name) seemed to experience it too. Anyone know where I’m talking about?

No worries Jordan...I was just messing with ya. 🙂
It's a 2021 Machine Grey Metallic GT Automatic ST.
Being a passenger did afford more of an opportunity to be able to take in the view.
It was cool to sit back and enjoy the ride and the cars.
Sounds like we we missed a great drive, and on my local roads, nonetheless. 😔
However, regrets will fade with each curve on theTail of the Dragon tomorrow! 😜
@stormnd2club Glad you are liking the sound tube delete. Being able to enjoy a drive without fear of a headache is most def. worth it. I have the AT so I don't have any experience with it.
@alisunshine Have fun at the Dragon and safe travels! 🙂

I do remember that road where it dropped quickly. That was a very cool piece of road. Every Miata run always has a little surprise!!! It was great seeing everyone and meeting new friends... Tim Justin etc. we are really happy to belong to this club, wish we didn’t have to drive two hours to get to every ride, but we re in a Miata, so we don’t notice it!!! (Except when we have to wake up at 530 am!!!) 😆
Warren, we appreciate you and Celia setting that morning alarm clock in order to arrive to the Drive on time. You both are great additions to the group. You have grown through sounding off on the FRS, picking up GPS skills and using them, and now leading Drives for Del Val. Very Impressive!
For the life of me, I cannot remember that section of road you guys are talking about.
Walter, I don’t think you were going fast enough!!! If you were, you’d remember it !!! 😂
Just happy you guys and gals in the rear were having fun and able to post some speed.
Yes, I remember it too but have no idea what road it was. When we hit it, Haley giggled and said her tummy felt like she was on a roller coaster.
