Here is another Flash Drive offering for retirees and anyone who can take off work. Join me in a pre-run for a new planned future Drive - “The View at Morgan Hill for Lunch via New Jersey”. This drive consists of 82 miles of a blend of Touring Miata roads and our beloved Miata roads. This pre-run is scheduled for Tuesday, March 23rd. We are meeting at the WAWA, 310 Larry Holmes Drive, Easton, PA. Drivers meeting is at 9:45 a.m. with a Departure at 10:00 a.m.
We will be driving 41 miles through Warren and Hunterdon Counties in New Jersey. We cross into Pennsylvania at Frenchtown, NJ. We continue with another 41 miles of Miata driving in Bucks and Northampton Counties ending at The View at Morgan Hill for lunch. I am not sure if outdoor dining is available this early in the season. Please let me know if you intend to dine with us at The View.
Please note, this is one time you definitely want to arrive with an empty bladder. the Shell Station across the street from the WAWA and WAWA itself have their rest rooms closed. However, 20 minutes into our drive, there is a Quick Chek gas station in New Jersey that we will be stopping at.
This event will follow the current Pennsylvania rules for COVID-19 safety. We will require that all participants maintain six-foot social distancing, and we will require masks to be worn when not in our cars. To avoid common handling of materials, we will email the directions to participants, for home printing, and we will eliminate the usual paper sign-in sheet. Since the sign-in confirms your agreement with LVMOC’s standard Waiver and Release, we will now consider your post to this event thread, indicating that you intend to participate, to be your “electronic” signature, indicating your agreement with said Waiver and Release (copy available on request).
We will use FRS radios for communications. Be sure to arrive by 9:30 a.m. with a full gas tank and an empty bladder .

@rhetlaw I learned how to shift in our driveway at 14-16 on a Mustang. We had a 550 foot driveway that came down a hill. On my 16th birthday I had my permit, and my first day at work. In a week, I had my license. My dad taught me to drive. He was a truck driver, and had safe driver pins everywhere around the house. He taught me very well. He taught me how to spot cars at night before they became visible, to scan continuously with your eyes, how to drive RWD cars in all conditions, and how to do line locks, donuts, and power slide around turns.
I have been driving with clarity and purpose ever since. Hence my winter car being a RWD sportscar, and destroying tires every 10,000 miles.
Thanks Dad.

Testing. Some reason a message popped up that said I was banned. It’s seemingly not letting me post any of Tuesday’s photos. I’ll see what happens

Trying again. Pics from Tuesday’s drive (license plates blocked out as usual as I’m unsure who cares and who doesn’t so I play it safe):

Good for you, Jeff. And I know you will be doing it in a very safe environment.
Two weeks ago on our Drive, I asked three of you men at what age you learned to drive. I was surprised by the responses as you all replied, "High School Driver Training."
I have very fond memories of my father teaching me how to drive when I was thirteen years old. And, no, it was not a tractor! It was a 1954 Chevrolet.
A safe environment will be a must.
I was one of those polled. My parents insisted that I have some sort of driver's ed, but didn't want to pay for it when we lived in Ketucky. The summer before my senior year we moved to Florida and luckily it was offered free through the public school system. I was the only senior in the class.
Ever since getting my license I have loved being behind the wheel. Now I am fortunate enough that the wheel is in the cockpit of a Miata. 😀

@storm88000 that is weird. Has an admin reached out to you?

Yep we figured it out. For some reason I went to sign in and it used another screen name or something. Not sure why it pre populated with that and I didn’t notice it.

Ok Here are pics from the drive (again I block out all license plates out of courtesy- I know some people don’t want that so I just play it safe)
