                                  Easton, PA  Location

Event Leader -  Walter Cramer

Here is another Flash Drive offering for retirees and anyone who can take off work. Join me in a pre-run for a new planned future Drive - “The View at Morgan Hill for Lunch via New Jersey”. This drive consists of 82 miles of a blend of Touring Miata roads and our beloved Miata roads. This pre-run is scheduled for Tuesday, March 23rd. We are meeting at the WAWA, 310 Larry Holmes Drive, Easton, PA. Drivers meeting is at 9:45 a.m. with a Departure at 10:00 a.m.

We will be driving 41 miles through Warren and Hunterdon Counties in New Jersey. We cross into Pennsylvania at Frenchtown, NJ. We continue with another 41 miles of Miata driving in Bucks and Northampton Counties ending at The View at Morgan Hill for lunch. I am not sure if outdoor dining is available this early in the season.  Please let me know if you intend to dine with us at The View.

Please note, this is one time you definitely want to arrive with an empty bladder. the Shell Station across the street from the WAWA and WAWA itself have their rest rooms closed. However, 20 minutes into our drive, there is a Quick Chek gas station in New Jersey that we will be stopping at.

This event will follow the current Pennsylvania rules for COVID-19 safety.  We will require that all participants maintain six-foot social distancing, and we will require masks to be worn when not in our cars.  To avoid common handling of materials, we will email the directions to participants, for home printing, and we will eliminate the usual paper sign-in sheet.  Since the sign-in confirms your agreement with LVMOC’s standard Waiver and Release, we will now consider your post to this event thread, indicating that you intend to participate, to be your “electronic” signature, indicating your agreement with said Waiver and Release (copy available on request).

We will use FRS radios for communications.  Be sure to arrive by 9:30 a.m. with a full gas tank and an empty bladder 😏.

Attending:

  1. Walter & Nancy (The View x 2)
  2. David & Janice (The View x 2)
  3. Gail & Bill (The View x 2)
  4. Tony B (The View x 1)
  5. Dennis K
  6. Annette... maybe (The View x 1)
  7. Jordan

Would love to join y'all but my direct report just bought a house and asked for some time off to move.  Looking forward to making the run later in the season!

We'll miss you on Tuesday, Jeff.

But if your niece Haley can't play hooky, Uncle Jeff shouldn't either.

Hey, that's good news Tony. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Was was picking up a take out order at the Texas Roadhouse two weeks ago and saw a Miata out front with the plate "Goober2". I said to my wife, "that has to be Tony's".

Haley absolutely loves riding in the Miata with her Uncle Jeff. She loved the Polar Bear Run with the top down. I expect Uncle Jeff to at least show Haley how to start his Miata in a year or two.

Very nice drive, Walter 👍... thanks!  Perfect top-down weather, and many great, new (for me) roads!  You even found some in Bucks County that I hadn't previously driven.  And Kasey's on the Delaware, where we stopped for lunch (since The View wasn't open for lunch) will be on our "go-to" list for future visits.

Yes Haley does @rhetlaw!  On Monday nights, I take Haley to dance class.  This past Monday, she walked in the door and her first words were "it's a perfect day for a drive in the Miata!" with a huge smile!  😀

I'll have her driving it around the block in a few years.  lol

Good for you, Jeff. And I know you will be doing it in a very safe environment.

Two weeks ago on our Drive, I asked three of you men at what age you learned to drive. I was surprised by the responses as you all replied, "High School Driver Training."

I have very fond memories of my father teaching me how to drive when I was thirteen years old. And, no, it was not a tractor! It was a 1954 Chevrolet.

Thanks, David. It was the first time I developed a 64 mile, two hour and fifteen minute ride on New Jersey roads.

We certainly had a grand day for a Drive and I am so happy we had a total of seven Miatas with us.

You and Janice certainly earned you pay today as our group Tails. If my count is correct, I had four u-turns on our excursion. Great job in keeping us all together.

Yes today was quite a drive.

38 degrees when I left Whitehall this morning at 9:20AM. Winter coat on, top closed, heated seats on. Almost 50 degrees when we left just after 10AM, and near 70 on the way home after lunch. Spring weather is so odd sometimes!

Some really fun roads and I got to wind out the GWR SS axle back I put on over the weekend on my ND2 - it’s louder than the GWR Super Q I had on the NC2, but also came w/ a baffle I haven’t tried yet.

Speaking of sound (and wind) - also got to test out the Cravenspeed wind blocker, it wraps around the ND roll hoops and allows the OEM blocker to stay in place. WOW, so much less wind blowing around the car, easily 1/3rd reduction. Highly recommended.

Anyways on to some photos (I again blocked our license plates bc some people don’t want them posted so I play it safe):

Edit: for some reason it’s not letting me post photos at the moment; I’ll try again later
