NOTE: We will be leaving precisely @ 9:30. Gas, restrooms and food are available at the WEIS and at the nearby Wawa and Turkey Hill. Plan accordingly. We want to get to Buddy's at a less busy time for brunch.
Because we use the facilities at Hawk Mountain for this drive, Polar Bear and occasionally others, I would appreciate each driver donating $5 to help them out with the wonderful work they do. I will collect during the driver's meeting. Thanks in advance!
THIS IS A RAIN OR SHINE EVENT.
Length: 176 miles. You may want to bring a snack and beverage - and you must have a full tank of gas.
Scenery: Some good, some great, some so-so and some coal crackin' ugly.
Ups & Downs: This route has more ups and downs than a whack-a-mole game. Over 31,500' worth! We're talkin' Mauna Kea from sea bed to summit!
Entertaining Roads: Part of PA 863 (including the corkscrew), Hawk Mountain, Lutz Valley, Ferebee/Flat Hill, Goldmine, PA125, Brockton Mountain/Moss Glen, and Gun Club (off of PA 309) to name a few of my favorites. There is also an appropriately named road called Wildcat. This roller-coaster of a road is so much fun we’re going to run it in both directions – 6 miles of madness.
Stops: Hawk Mountain (mi 30, for those who drank too much morning coffee), brunch at "Buddy's Log Cabin" (mi 59), Burger King (mi 103, to unload Buddy's coffee), and Heisler's Cloverleaf Dairy for ICE CREAM (mi 155), and finishing at Eight Oaks Farm Distillery & Kitchen (mi 176)
Buddy's is famous for its extra crispy, deep-fried bacon, and its "bet you can't eat more than one". Buddy's is worth the drive by itself! And did I mention ICE CREAM!?
Needless to say, this is an all-day drive. Figure around 4:15 of driving time and around 7:00 total time including stops & food.
We hope you'll join us!

Ive been on the ride. If the next person in line is the new member. Then im willing to give my spot up for them to enjoy the ride. If there is another verison of this ride later in the season. I would like a spot for that. There was 2 if I remember correctly.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, I must relinquish my spot 😩. Hope everyone has a great day and I’ll try to catch the next one.
If ndbarsil was not going to make it. Plus keep me on list

I have been on Dave's Westward Ho Drive twice and I agree very much with Mike Cory - a superb Drive and one you don't want to miss.
Unfortunately, my schedule has changed and I am unable to attend the Drive on Saturday. Have a wonderful time all.
