Presidential note: HOLD YOUR EARS, BECAUSE I AM DROPPING THE MIC! THIS IS THE 40TH DRIVE OF THE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!   BOOM!!!!

Join Walter for a Fall morning of driving westward over Lehigh and Berks County roads south of routes 22 and 78.  Our westward destination is the Dieffenbach’s Potato Chip factory. The locals claim these potato chips to be the Best Ever, and the devotees among us can replenish their home stocks with the tasty 'taters!  Although the drive to Dieffenbach’s is a bit over two hours, I have a rest stop planned at Redner’s on Route 183, one hour and forty minutes into the drive.

Our return route has us stopping at Sheetz, on Route 61, for a rest stop.  As we turn onto Route 737 North, we finally get to travel on roadways north of routes 22 and 78.  The length of travel is 95 miles and approximately 4 1/2 hours.

We will have lunch with out-door dining at Hops Fogelsville Hotel.

Be sure to let Walter know if you wish to go to the restaurant!

This event will follow the current Pennsylvania rules for COVID-19 safety.  We will require that all participants maintain six-foot social distancing, and we will require masks to be worn when not in our cars.  To avoid common handling of materials, we will email the directions to participants, for home printing, and we will eliminate the usual paper sign-in sheet.  Since the sign-in confirms your agreement with LVMOC’s standard Waiver and Release, we will now consider your post to this event thread, indicating that you intend to participate, to be your “electronic” signature, indicating your agreement with said Waiver and Release (copy available on request).

We will use FRS radios for communications.  Be sure to arrive by ~9:45 a.m. with a full gas tank and an empty bladder.

NOTE: To ensure that this popular drive runs smoothly, we plan to divide the cars into two groups.

Thank yous go out to Walter for leading, Ken and Evan for tailing, the Sellmates for their middle work, mother nature for keeping the rain at bay and Dieffenbachs for yummy chippies.

Haley and I had a blast and she is already asking about the Polar Bear Run. 😉

@flying-dutchman Let Janice know that I jinxed Iowa by wearing the hoodie today.  🤣   They were never good enough to be number 2 IMO but might fall out of the top 20 after today.

Thanks for those kind words. We have been so lucky with weather on our Club Drives this season. And today was another example of that. I was proactive in packing an umbrella and as I got out of my Miata at the Cracker Barrel I needed it for about five minutes. After that spritz, rain was not an issue for us.

Thank you all who joined me on this Drive. Thanks to Janice and Dave as our Middle and Ken and Evan as our Tails. I am sure the residents on Shock Road were grateful to us for stopping and clearing their roadway of that log and debris.

Jeff, always a joy to hear how Haley is enjoying herself on our Miata Drives.

Mike thanks for posting those photos for us to enjoy.

The rain this morning in my yard was halfway up the bottom of the NDs tires & parking lot flooded and all. Glad to hear the drive went well!!

@stormnd2club Yikes!  I hear it pouring a little after 7am and was wondering Walter might make a game time decision to cancel.  Thankfully, it got better as the day went on.

Thanks Walter for another great, top-down drive! I only had my top up as a precaution when we were at rest stops. Lots of great roads, and lots of great scenery. I know that Ginny had to have enjoyed the dozens of beautiful barns, and Tom Davis would have enjoyed all of the cows.

We have a milk creamer shortage at my work.  I can see why. None of those cows were at work.

Rain? What rain?  OK, we had a brief shower just as we arrived at Cracker Barrel, but after that, not an issue.  I was confident that rain wouldn't be a problem, because most of the cows we saw along the route (and there were many) were standing, not lying down... a sure sign that there would be no further rain 😉.

Walter, the roads you have chosen for this route are always entertaining, and this drive has the big bonus... Dieffenbach's Chips!!  (Not to mention the nice lunch at Fogelsville)  Thanks for another fun day 👍!

Thanks, Jeff... every little bit helps us forlorn Penn State fans.  Maybe you can think of a good luck charm for the Nittany Lions... they need it!  (BTW, nice to see that Michigan State beat Michigan yesterday 😑)

Seeing that Iowa is out of the B10 Championship race now, who does Penn State play next?  I will wear the opposing team's apparel.  😀  Yes it was and one of the problems of having such a strong conference.  This late in the year, they take each other out of the race.  As long as it isn't Bama!
