Welcome to the 2022 running of an annual tradition:  The M&M (Minis & Miatas) Rally.  Once again, LVMOC will get together with members of the Philly Mini Club for some back-road cruising and camaraderie.  This will be, I believe, the 14th running of this event, which was first proposed and hosted in 2008 by the Mini group!  This year it's LVMOC's turn to host the event.  So, here goes:

This excursion for Miatas and Mini Coopers has us leaving the Lehigh Valley and traveling our beloved curves and twisties into the Pocono Region.  We travel Route 534 through ten miles of Hickory Run State Park.  After our rest stop, we continue to the Francis E. Walter Dam, where, looking South from the Dam head, one can view the beginning of the Lehigh Gorge State Park, which continues South into the Lehighton area eighteen miles away.  We continue with a quaint drive around Lake Harmony at the Split Rock Lodge, in Luzerne County.  We will be enjoying Lunch in the Saylorsburg / Snydersville area.  Following lunch, we continue cruising South on "Mini Cooper and Miata" roads, traveling over Blue Mountain and enjoying Ice Cream at the Blue Mountain Drive-In, where the ride concludes.

Our first leg of travel has us driving 60 miles in approximately 2 hours.  Our second leg of travel is 52 miles and traveling approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes.  Our third and final leg of travel is 21 miles in length and approximately 45 minutes of travel time.

Following lunch, in the event one has had enough driving for one day, you have the opportunity of following Route 209 to Route 33 and travel the remainder of the trip home via four lane travel.

We always enjoy spending time with the fun-loving members of the Philly Mini Club!  Let's get a nice-sized gang of LVMOC folks together and show them that we, too, are a bit crazy (about our Miatas, that is...)

This event will follow the current Pennsylvania rules for COVID-19 safety.  To avoid common handling of materials, we will email the directions to participants, for home printing, and we will eliminate the usual paper sign-in sheet.  Since the sign-in confirms your agreement with LVMOC’s standard Waiver and Release, we will now consider your post to this event thread (or Philly Mini's event thread), stating that you intend to participate, to be your “electronic” signature, indicating your agreement with said Waiver and Release (copy available on request).

We will use FRS radios for communications.

  1. Walter
  2. Louie and Corrina
  3. Dawn and Tom
  4. Bill A. & co-pilot

Another delightful day to have our Miatas out on their roads. Added to that, we were able to share our Miata roads with the Philly Mini Club. They have the same fondness for their Mini's as we do to our Miatas. A HUGE thanks to Dawn and Tom Horvath for being our Tail today. Another Great Job. And a Big Thank You to John Pitino to takes the time to take videos of our travels and posts them on FaceBook. Thanks to all who used their FRS radio to alert our group to road issues. Looking forward to our next Drive together.

@livetodrive

My sincere apologies, I was remiss in not thanking Louie and Corrina for their leadership in the second group of our M & M Drive last Saturday. Louie devotes much time and effort in promoting our Club both on this website and on FaceBook.
