Dust off your Miatas and bring them out to the annual LVMOC CarBQue! There is plenty of room to display your cars while you enjoy a picnic-style lunch, become re-acquainted with old friends and meet new friends. After the difficult year of 2020, we’re all anxious to cautiously emerge for a bit of fresh air and socializing.
Because the COVID-19 pandemic is still a reality, the Club will not have the traditional grilling of burgers and hot dogs. Instead, we will serve pre-sized assorted “sub” sandwich sections, like we have provided at past Detail Day events. We will also have individual packs of potato chips, etc., and we will have potato salad, etc., served by Club volunteers, to avoid multiple handling of utensils. Please do not bring prepared foods, cookies, desserts, etc., to be shared with others outside of your family group! Although that was always encouraged in past years, we must now avoid it due to the ongoing pandemic. We have an alcoholic beverage permit; you may bring something for your personal consumption.
NOTE: At this event, we will hold a General Membership Meeting. We didn't have one last year, due to the restrictions of the pandemic... the Club's Bylaws state that we must have a General Membership Meeting at least once a year.
We will require that all participants maintain six-foot social distancing outside of your family groups, and we will require masks to be worn when not seated at a table for dining. To avoid common handling of materials, we will eliminate the usual paper sign-in sheet. Since the sign-in ordinarily confirms your agreement with LVMOC’s standard Waiver and Release, we will now consider your post to this event thread, stating that you intend to participate, to be your “electronic” signature, indicating your agreement with said Waiver and Release (copy available on request).
The Club will again host its annual Garage Sale / Swap Meet, where you can display your excess Miata parts and accessories to swap or sell. A few ground rules for this are:
- To participate, you must be a paid 2021 LVMOC member
- All items must be Miata-related
- You will be responsible for watching your stuff
- All sales transaction will be strictly between the seller and the buyer
- All items must be clearly tagged with your name and price, if applicable
- You are responsible for removing all remining items from the Park at the end of the CarBQue
- LVMOC is not responsible for any losses you may incur
We will also hold a seminar for prospective drive leaders. Those of us who have led previous drives have much information to pass along that would be helpful to anyone who is considering planning and leading a drive for fellow LVMOC members.

yeah, ^^^^^ what she said!! We had a blast! Again, worth the trip! We haven't been disappointed yet at every event! Thank you Walter for having patience to listen to my redundant questions. I can't believe how many gorgeous miatas where there!! It is such a blessing to be part of a friendly club!!
Warren, always a joy to have you and Celia join our events. You both are a PLUS.
So happy that Gail and you were able to connect and she was able to introduce you to LVMOC.
It was great seeing everyone! Here are a few of the pics I got
1991 Red w/ 210k miles. Bone stock, for now!
Another round of thank you's to all involved with putting this together! It was a great turn out and so many nice cars to look at.
Nice pictures @zakdoesit and wish you luck with all of your juggling to get that build done. 🙂
@triviawayne, it was hours after the carbque but I finally remembered the brand of that car mount in the black NC. The brand is Kuda and they offer two different car mounts. They are not cheap considering you still have to source a phone mount as well. The link below is for the 09-15 NC for which I believe the mount on the top of the dash is the same (I know the lower mounts were different for the NC1).
For my application, I re-used my ProClipUSA phone mount with the Kuda mount. The Kuda comes blank so you can attach almost any phone mount to it. If you prefer a magnetic mount, you might be able to glue a magnet to the backside of the Kuda that will hold the phone? Here is a pic from my NC1 showing the phone mount attached.

A Miata that I was really looking forward to seeing again was that belonging to LVMOC member, David Yeboah (solariszone). It's very "tricked-out", and I know that he has done more work on it since the last time I saw it. Unfortunately, as he and Lori were about to leave for the CarBQue, the Miata decided that it just wasn't going to cooperate... it wouldn't budge 😖! He told me that the last thing on the car that he had fiddled with involved connections to the ECU. David thinks that he somehow offended the Electrical Gods inside the Black Box. So, the result was that we didn't get to see his "baby" at the event. But, he and Lori still "toughed it out" and arrived at the CarBQue in a backup vehicle. Oh, well, hopefully next year...
It was nice to see you again, anyway, David and Lori 😌!

@flying-dutchman Thanks Dave. I was able to resolve the issue after I got home. As suspected, I blew an engine fuse so I'm good now. I hope to see all at the AirShow...
