Dust off your Miatas and bring them out to the annual LVMOC CarBQue! There is plenty of room to display your cars while you enjoy a picnic-style lunch, become re-acquainted with old friends and meet new friends. After the difficult year of 2020, we’re all anxious to cautiously emerge for a bit of fresh air and socializing.
Because the COVID-19 pandemic is still a reality, the Club will not have the traditional grilling of burgers and hot dogs. Instead, we will serve pre-sized assorted “sub” sandwich sections, like we have provided at past Detail Day events. We will also have individual packs of potato chips, etc., and we will have potato salad, etc., served by Club volunteers, to avoid multiple handling of utensils. Please do not bring prepared foods, cookies, desserts, etc., to be shared with others outside of your family group! Although that was always encouraged in past years, we must now avoid it due to the ongoing pandemic. We have an alcoholic beverage permit; you may bring something for your personal consumption.
NOTE: At this event, we will hold a General Membership Meeting. We didn't have one last year, due to the restrictions of the pandemic... the Club's Bylaws state that we must have a General Membership Meeting at least once a year.
We will require that all participants maintain six-foot social distancing outside of your family groups, and we will require masks to be worn when not seated at a table for dining. To avoid common handling of materials, we will eliminate the usual paper sign-in sheet. Since the sign-in ordinarily confirms your agreement with LVMOC’s standard Waiver and Release, we will now consider your post to this event thread, stating that you intend to participate, to be your “electronic” signature, indicating your agreement with said Waiver and Release (copy available on request).
The Club will again host its annual Garage Sale / Swap Meet, where you can display your excess Miata parts and accessories to swap or sell. A few ground rules for this are:
- To participate, you must be a paid 2021 LVMOC member
- All items must be Miata-related
- You will be responsible for watching your stuff
- All sales transaction will be strictly between the seller and the buyer
- All items must be clearly tagged with your name and price, if applicable
- You are responsible for removing all remining items from the Park at the end of the CarBQue
- LVMOC is not responsible for any losses you may incur
We will also hold a seminar for prospective drive leaders. Those of us who have led previous drives have much information to pass along that would be helpful to anyone who is considering planning and leading a drive for fellow LVMOC members.

Stacey won't be able to make it, and her spot is already paid for, so that's one of the two needed.
Sorry to hear this, Wayne... thanks for letting us know. We owe you five bucks!

not really, the food was already ordered. I knew when signing up she probably wouldn't be able to make it, but wanted to keep the option to bring her open.
We have to bail as well. Got into a fender-bender on 22 this afternoon. I'm fine (just really annoyed), 18 wheeler who hit me is fine...however...the Miata is gonna need some TLC. Low speed rear-ending while trying to merge onto that poor excuse for a highway. Hope to have it fixed by the next run. Have fun everyone!!
@jp1
Ouch! Sorry to hear this, Jon, but I'm glad that you're OK.

Yes, sorry to hear Jon but thankful that you are ok.
No mystery guest for me. Paid in advance hoping I could talk Tam into joining me. No worries about a refund.

To everyone who had anything to do with the organization of this afternoon's Car-B-Que - AWESOME job - Thank You. We had a great turn out, much conversation and laughter, and a delightful breeze to cool keep us cool.
Dave and Janice, all of your effort and hard work did not go un-noticed. Well Done. Thank you for all you did.
Corrina I think we have you to thank for those baked beans - delicious. If I am wrong, my apologies to the person that provided them.
Louie, thank you for all of you inspirational leadership. Congratulations on winning the 50-50 drawing.
What a pleasure to look at the wedding pictures of Corrina and Louie's oldest son and Wanda and Jerry's son. Also learned that Diane and Bill Dwyre's son got engaged last Friday night. Happiness abounds.
One additional item I forgot to mention -
Annette, what a delightful gesture to bake all of those individually wrapped cupcakes for the group. The way they were devoured, I would say they were a huge hit for the group.
As President, I would like to once again thank every member of our Club for making it as friendly and fun as it is. We had a great turn out today, and had a guest stop in to see what we are all about, and left with membership papers! He will be the 100th person to join or renew this year!!!!
Thanks to all of the Club officers who were able to come early to set up, and get the food. There was plenty of food and thanks to Annette for the awesome desserts!!!! And finally, I hope the newer members each got the Mazda Swag they wanted, because when it is gone... it is gone!

It was a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious day! Thanks to everyone behind the scenes that made it possible. We are blessed to have so many wonderful people be a part of our club. The weather was perfect, good to see old friends and new, all the cars looked fantastic. What more could we ask for. Once again, thanks.
Many thanks to all who helped with today's event! Through your efforts, I think the 2021 CarBQue was a success. It was great to see a lot of new faces, along with those who have continued to be active for a number of years (actually, it was great to see ANY faces, following a year of isolation and masking!). I hope to see all of you again at LVMOC's events this year!
David
(And, I swear that none of us took a bribe from Louie and rigged the 50/50 drawing so that he would win...)

yeah, ^^^^^ what she said!! We had a blast! Again, worth the trip! We haven't been disappointed yet at every event! Thank you Walter for having patience to listen to my redundant questions. I can't believe how many gorgeous miatas where there!! It is such a blessing to be part of a friendly club!!
