The Wash DC region of the SCCA (current Jumbo region of the Year 2 years running) kicks off its road racing year with round 1 of the 2026 MARRS (Mid Atlantic Road Racing Series) on 3/28-3/29. Miata lovers will find 2 run groups dedicated to them (SM/SMX (NA,NB,NC), SSM (Sealed spec NA's) plus will find Miatae in other non-spec groups such as Touring and Production. I'm sure you know our Miata/MX5 is the most raced platform on any given weekend in the country and racers get tremendous support directly from Mazda Motorsports.
This event is at the series' home track at Summit Point, WV. It sounds far, but it's just off I-81 between Hagerstown MD and Winchester VA. Several drivers and workers from PA support the series. This year the series has events at Summit Point, VIR, NJMP, and Mid-Ohio, but has been recently to Watkins Glen and Pitt Race. Last year, the series joined the Ohio Valley Region for a joint event and it was the second largest SCCA event after the Road America June Sprints.
There are many areas to spectate in person and they're always looking for volunteers (all workers are volunteers) for flagging, grid, timing, etc. If you can't make it down, you can catch the live action on the club's YouTube channel complete with trackside announcers, scoring pylons, and guest commentary.
Later in April, the region hosts the SCCA Conference Majors on 4/18-19 at Summit Point. More Miata racing across several classes as drivers travel to the region to try to qualify for the SCCA National Runoffs.

Thanks for posting this, Steve! I agree, it's an easy, ~ 3 hour drive down I-81. Before I retired, I would need to take an occasional drive to Martinsburg, WV (not far from Summit Point). The route is so simple that even I couldn't get lost.
Hopefully some of our members can attend the SCCA events this Spring at Summit Point! Here's a LINK to the Summit Point Motorsports Park website.
