As some of you read in the ice cream thread, we took on 20" of water in our basement last week.  What I didn't find out until the next day was that water made it into the cabin.  When I started her, she was running very rough, I pulled seven CEL codes and the AT light was lit.

Insurance deemed her a total loss and she was towed away this morning.  😪   While the last thing I wanted to do right now, car shopping has been a pleasant distraction.  I am Miata shopping and have my eyes on a couple.  Hoping I can work out a deal and will have one in the driveway by month's end.

So sorry to hear.  On top of everything else, the flood taking out your Miata is insult to injury.  But you’re right about shopping for a new one – great therapy with exciting choices. Hope you find just what you’re looking for and can join us again soon!

Jeff, so sorry to hear that news. Many people would cave and go into deep depression. Through all you have been through recently, you continue to show resiliency and positive attitude. My hat goes off to you. Can't wait to see your new find joining us on the roadways again.

Thank you for all of the kind words!

Cleaners finished up in the basement yesterday, I made my own consult appt. with a doctor (hoping he is approved by WC) for this Wednesday and have it narrowed down to a couple of potential replacements.  Last night, I got a call from a co-worker's wife out of the blue.  Their church does Mission work and this year their project was cancelled due to Covid-19.  She called as her husband was telling her of our story and they have graciously offered to help us!  🙂  The mission leader will be calling me in the next few days to go over the details but the way I understand it is that we supply the needed materials and they provide the labor.  We were taken aback that they want to help us and are still in disbelief as well as very appreciative!  The storm is over and the days ahead are only getting brighter!

Thanks for sharing that very touching story, Jeff. It is always nice to hear the details of a happy ending. And Blessings to that Mission Group that goes out and helps others,

Good Luck with your medical consult and in the rehab of your basement.

Sorry to hear about the flooding damage and the loss of your Miata. There are a lot of NC's available that are surprisingly cheap and quite a few ND's on dealer lots. From the smile on the truck driver taking your Miata away, I wonder if he plans to keep it and bring it back to life with a salvage title? Good luck finding your next perfect Miata!

She lives! 😯  A local member from Miata.net who I have met a couple of times sent me a screenshot this morning to this site.  Asking $5300!?  My insurance company paid me $4809 for her and I honestly thought they would part it out to make money.  Wonder what they sold it for?

To me, that is a crazy price given the mileage and flood damage.  Wonder if they removed the hard wired CB unit that was under the passenger seat, which was also submerged by the flood water?

Curious as to where the hole on the PS of the bumper came from as well as the two dimples on the front bumper.  They were not there when the car was picked up in my driveway.

The good would be the JVC h/u with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Mazdaspped muffler, Moto-East CAI and Koni yellows w/Progress springs that had ~12,000 miles on them.  That is not $5300 worth though.

Jordan, I saw someone on the Facebook page looking for an NC around the $6k price point.  I don't have Facebook but maybe they'd be interested?  If so, I'd be willing to discuss more about my 5 year history with them if they were seriously considering it.
