The hood, front bumper, and both front fenders were repainted. They also are going to do areas such as under and around the bottom of the doors near the rocker panels (not sure why they skipped them in the first place). For example here is a photo of the passenger side door area when opened:
Chips everywhere so that needs to be taken care of.
I am not exactly thrilled that the vehicle is a 2020 and these problems are popping up simultaneously:
- The infotainment screen needs to be replaced. The top left and bottom right corners almost look like they are separating from within. It’s this weird frosted look. I stopped by the dealer and they said they’d call me when the newone comes in.
- Yet another issue: the soft top is developing creases in two spots in the same but opposite locations (both driver & passenger sides) that are becoming more pronounced and therefore more worrisome. Passenger side photo:
I actually don’t know when this began (or when the infotainment screen started to self destruct either) but the vehicle is a month away from being two years old w/ 22k miles which is maybe a little high for a 2020 but shouldn’t be something it can’t handle. The motor and transmission have been wonderful, it’s just these other things that bring up questions about quality. Of course the paint is a major issue too.
Also, and this is very minor but some of the white lettering around the infotainment knobs has begun to rub off.
Ideally once the other parts that need new paint are done then I can get the PPF so unfortunately for now probably won’t be seeing this car out on any Club rides. I actually am just going to get a front end bra for now just so I can drive it and not worry - yeah I know, they’re ugly and out of style, but they protect the paint as long as you don’t leave them on too long. Just a band aid until the issues are sorted out and I can get the paint protection.
Also regarding the soft top issue: I am not sure if they will consider that a big enough problem to replace it. Unless it gets worse. However if they do I’d like to get the more insulated GT soft top and maybe a color other than plain black and cover the difference out of pocket.
Then the main goal is a removable hard top by say, September which would be great for the fall weather that follows.
Here’s a couple photos of the company I may get one from, this is on an arctic white ND2:
I really love the look, and these hard tops only weigh 20-30 pounds depending on paint.
