Yup, FREE! This black and tan miata was present at the get together at Carrabba’s restaurant when a group of us decided to form LVMOC. It wasn’t mine at the time but became mine 7 years ago.

It has been my faithful daily driver to work until Covid-19 forced me to work from home in April. I let it sit too long and it now does not start (no noise at all when I turn the ignition, even with jumping). I would have just fixed it but my daughter bought me a new (used) convertible instead.

The GOOD: The engine has been great. I only drive 2,000 miles a year and I have changed the oil once a year at inspection time. 127,700 miles and doesn’t burn oil. The top is fine and there is a Hard Dog double diagonal roll bar with cushion and vinyl cover. Registration good till June 2021. I run with snow tires since I work only a mile from home so why waste the effort and they are in fine shape. Kenmore stereo that is a little finicky.

The BAD: AC, cruise control, air bag and horn don’t work. Rain drain rust in front of both rear tires that should be repaired if you plan to drive this miata. A few dents and cracked lenses but nothing major. Driver seat is torn. I think the battery is also pretty worn out.

Pictures available on request.

Some photos you can see the OEM wheels but the previous owner was nice enough to include some 15” gold Rotas that I put on:

I also swapped out both incandescent interior bulbs with Super bright LEDs. The difference is amazing, you can actually see inside the car at night. Also put LEDs in all 4 corner marker housings:

At night, my ND2 on right:

The aftermarket CD player head unit also needs to be replaced as it doesn’t stay on. Luckily a new replacement unit is less than $100 for a decent  single DIN (would not risk $350+ for a double din touch screen as the soft top does not provide enough security of course from the parking lot pirates roaming our towns).

If you zoom in on the bottom left where the rear bumper is you can see it’s cracked.  Luckily I was able to buy a mint one and new license plate surround plastic, just needs to be painted black.  Throwing the idea around of having the entire vehicle repainted after the rust is taken care of in the spring. Maybe  depends how bad the rust is..
