Pancake Breakfast/Airshow/Miata Car Show/Free Airplane Rides/Ice Cream Run 5/14/23

When -                   Sunday, May 14, 2023

                                  Arrive:      9:00 a.m. at Pegasus Airpark (Breakfast begins)

Where -                  Pegasus Airpark

                                  222 Hickory Lane

                                  Saylorsburg, PA  Location (between Brodheadsville & Sciota)

NOTE that there will be no organized drive from the Lehigh Valley to the Airpark!

LVMOC will meet at Pegasus Airpark, near Stroudsburg, and join the Keystone British Car Club for another fun event hosted by EEA 839.  Your Miata gets to be in a car show, along with a lot of nifty British sports cars.  You get a great breakfast for $8.  There is a free airshow.  Kids ages 8-17 get to go up in plane for free!  Then, when you think that you are all funned out... we will head for ice cream on a great bunch of Miata roads.

The Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 839 has again invited LVMOC to their airshow and pancake breakfast at Pegasus Airpark, a small turf airfield near Stroudsburg. The EAA 839 mission statement is:

"Chapter 839 is passionate in enjoying aviation with others who have a similar interest and the desire to share aviation with the local community through fly-ins, picnics, workshops, Young Eagle rallies and more. We are an Active Chapter with a hangar and lots of exciting projects in the works."

To those ends, they have a pancake breakfast on Sunday, May 14, 2023 to raise funds for their operations.  We have been invited, as a Club, to display our cars in a special section, to show off our sportscars, and our Club.  In addition, they offer to take children aged 8-17, who are with their parents (to sign paperwork), for a free ride in an airplane.

BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!  After we are done enjoying the airshow (probably by around 11:30 - 12:00), we will launch from there on a drive to Klein Farms Dairy & Creamery, north of Easton, PA, for ICE CREAM!

Please come and attend.  This will only cost $8.00 (alright, $10 if you round up for a good cause), to see an airshow, be the star of a car show, have your son or daughter up in a plane, and have a fun ride back for ice cream!

Again, the location of Pegasus Airpark is 222 Hickory Lane SAYLORSBURG (MAKE SURE YOUR GPS DOES NOT CHANGE IT TO STROUDSBURG).  For a link to the EAA Chapter 839 homepage and directions, click here .

We will use FRS radios for communications on the return drive.

To avoid common handling of materials, we will email the directions to participants, for home printing, and we will eliminate the usual paper sign-in sheet.  Since the sign-in confirms your agreement with LVMOC’s standard Waiver and Release, we will consider your post to this event thread, stating that you intend to participate, to be your “electronic” signature, indicating your agreement with said Waiver and Release (copy available on request).

@solariszone

You'd better get to work, David... we don't want you and Lori showing up in an SUV, again! 😉

Karas move date got pushed back (did I mention she's moving to PA so she'll probably be my co-pilot on a lot of future events?)  so I'll be running solo this time.

Sheryl & I will join, but probably just for the show--thinking we may bring both street and race cars if there is a place to park the truck/trailer (anywhere) too.  ???

David, @flying-dutchman Let me know if you're ok with that.

There might not be a good spot for the truck & trailer, Steve, particularly since we're sharing the facility with the Keystone British Car Club.  I don't recall if there is space behind the building where they serve the breakfast.  I tried looking at the layout via "satellite view", in Google Maps, but that area is obscured by trees.  You might want to check with David LaFaver, the EEA 839 Chapter President, at ilaflyer@me.com .

Pretty sure there is a spot you can unload and park just not right where the cars will be sitting.

Also, if it's a damp day, the British cars won't be there... none of them will start 🤣!

@stevem49

Steve, I was at Pegasus Airpark yesterday, and there are a few places where you could park the truck and trailer.  But, I would get there early, no later than 9 a.m.

@flying-dutchman @whybu1  Thanks, David and Mike for your help.   I'll send a message to David from EAA to put a plan together if it's possible.   No problem getting there early to get things out of the way.   It seemed like a good venue to show off a different side of our Miata family--we just "fly" at ground level-- plus I'd be glad to answer any questions about regional motorsports, clubs, and safety.

Hopefully the rain stays away cause I'd love to see planes in the air, our Miatae shine, and what the Brits would bring.
